New Project

In light of the current climate I have decided to build a new tac rifle. It is a switch barrel consisting of a 6.5 creedmore, A .308 and last but not least a wild cat 7 short mag. What is interesting about the 7 is greed LOL. I wanted to get the most case with the best B.C. to fit in a short action mag and still stay above the donut. Everything depended on each other ,first came the mag which had to work in the Manners semi inlet stock .I found one that lets you load to 2.950 which will work. Then the bullet ,a .660 bc which is plenty and will work. The bolt just came in so now off to the lathe to make a fireform barrel and to see how much I have to adjust the form dies to make things purdy.Who knows maybe the fireform barrel shoots. The motivation came when there was no brass to be found, OK more than one way to skin a cat. I will post pics when I learn how LOL.

2 different bolt faces? Why not a 280 AI or a 7.08 AI. Both would shoot really well.

Built a 30/350 or 30/6.5 Rem mag back in the day. Good hunting gun.

The parent case was a 270 wsm necked up to 7mm which I shot years ago. About 3yrs ago I wanted to try a 7 saum but couldn't find any brass so I made some form dies to altar the 270 case by bringing the shoulder back giving about the same case capacity and a longer neck. All I did to make it work in this new rig was bump the shoulder back a little more. However I did have to make another die to change the process to three steps instead of two.The old fired brass collapses with the two step method. This change goes in 70 thou. increments and is working fine. Especially since I found 360 pcs. of old brass.

Should work well for you, Ralph! Went down that same road several years ago when Rem 7 RSAUM brass dried up. Here's a pic comparison of the wildcat 7 RSAUM (center) with a standard 7 RSAUM (left) and a 7 WSM (right). The latter two are from .270 WSM brass. This wildcat has had the additional step of being Ackleyized. I don't bother with that step anymore, because it requires fireforming.
