New Nova Project

My fiance and I have been looking for a car that weekend build up and take to the weekend drags. We've looked at a bunch of junk. The alternative was something that wasn't junk that would be completely overpriced. Once again the Lord provided a perfect solution.

A fella here locally had this Nova and he said he couldn't get it running after putting in a new engine, so he sold it to us not running. It might not have been my first choice of year but we were told by a local friend who builds cars to just buy a Nova because they're light. And we got this one super cheap. It's actually the same body as the Pontiac Ventura that my buddy Kip drove in high school and we spent probably a thousand hours in that car driving all over Oklahoma.

This is what it looks like after pressure washing off all the black that was on it from sitting under a tree. This is almost a 100% rust-free car. Which is rare to say the least.

Very cool, I had a 1971 40 years ago.
Started with a 250 inline, put in a built 350 for a while then a 454, would run 12.5/108 in the 1/4 mile
Looking forward to seeing it as it progresses.

Nice! You two are gonna have some fun with that. I like how you got your sweetheart to do the work while you stood around taking photos! heh heh. And you got a smile from her. Or is that a "you'll suffer for that" sort of look?

:)

No brother, that's a real smile, she loves this car. That was her pressure washer "reveal".

I bought her that pressure washer for mother's day hahaha she had been dreaming of her own pressure washer for years.
That’s almost as good as giving my wife a thermapen meat thermometer for her first Mother’s Day. She never lets me forget lol. We can laugh about it now she offerred to get me a smoking thermometer for Father’s Day

I'm serious. It's not for me. I guess you would just have to know my lady. She talked about wanting a pressure washer the entire time I knew her.

We darn near had a party to celebrate she was so happy.

I had a 1970 nova, 307cu, automatic while I was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB in the late 70s. Never a issue, ran it all over upstate NY back then

Why won't it run? That's the burning question!

Sure looks better than the average Nova I see around here...oh, wait...we never see those anymore except resto's.

I'd drive the crap outta that!

I had a 1963 with a 454 set back into the fire wall. The builder said it was set back 10% had a Lakewood straight axel with coil over shocks and 488 rear gears. Had a tube frame, and ladder type traction bars. When the children came it had to go.

I had several in the past. 73 Nova SS I added healthy cam, intake 4 barrel and headers. 73 Ventura Sprint I blew the engine and swapped in a 69 455. 77 Nova stock 305.
