New Lot of Bergers

I've had a 1000 yard BR load that has worked very well for the past two years. This summer, I started on a new lot# of the same bullets and used my same load data. I couldn't get the gun to shoot anywhere near where it shot the old lot#. Powder charge vs seating depth.....which one would you change first?

The caliber is a 6X47 with 39.6 gr. of H-4350 and 108 Bergers seated at a .017" jump.

Paul I would try to match the base to ogive measurement of the old bullet. Sometimes that works. If not I would try a different depth first. Matt

I've been in your same situation with bergers and never got them to shoot any where near the same. I gave some to a friend and they shot great in his rifle.
I would try the same thing Matt said if that don't work. I would start with a ladder test with the powder. I had the same deal with sierras one time, seating depth didn't work but changing the powder charge did BUT it was a lot different. I would not have guessed it to be that much different.

Seating depth corrected my issues. I have found the hybrids ARE less sensitive to seating depth.

I'm going to get the barrel set back this fall and will try the bullets in the rebarreled version.. It will be interesting to see if they shoot in the new tube.
If not, I'll play around with the seating depth, then powder charge if necessary.

I find just the opposite and find the hunting VLD likes it 10 in; in every gun I ever owned. I could not get the Hybrid to shoot good enough no matter where I put them. Matt

I think I remember you saying this one other time. I love hybrids and have switched to them in almost everything. My 6br still uses 107 smk because I have a few thousand for it.
