New Lapua 6.5x284 brass necks

Picked up 2 boxes of 6.5x284 brass to neck up for straight 284.... Measured the necks and they seem to have more then the normal variance. I'm seeing about 2k difference in the same piece. What have the masses been seeing.

Contact Kevin Thomas at Lapua USA. He will let you know if the brass is in specification, and will replace it if it's not.

Not all Lapua Brass is created equal it turns out. For what ever reason I have found the 6.5X284 Brass is not all that great. Yet most of my 308 brass and 6BR brass is wonderful stuff for consitancy. Not a lot of options unfortunaly and its very strong brass that I still use even after starting to shoot the 6.5X284 before the Lapua even made brass. or at least got it imported into the USA. So its been a few years.

I had to run a Norma Brass for a spell when everything was out and it was great. Just very expensive and did not last as long. However. I needed brass and you do what you got to do.

What your seeing is what I have ALWAYS seen with the 6.5X284 brass from Lapua... Just delt with it, and moved forward. Again this is just with this particular cartridge.

When you expand it to 7mm the variance will go down slightly FWIW.
