Im starting a new ultimate varmint build using a howa mini build
Recently bought a Howa mini that had the bolt face and lugs trued. With some trigger work.
Mullerworks 20 cal 1-8 twist Remington varmint contour .830 at 26"
Doing a Howage barrel from Crownridge barrel works.
Chambered in 20 Grendel with a custom reamer for 55gr Bergers
Owner of the reamer is running them at 3960 fps currently!

Thinking of getting the Stocky's stock carbon fiber vg stock blem for 400

Oryx chassis for 429

Boyds pro varmint with pillars for 350

I have a Stockys carbon fiber 20oz Howa mini stock and a Boyds pro varmint. The Boyds is an anchor and Stockys is a feather. I had to remove a bunch of forearm channel material from the Stockys to get the varmint barrel to fit. Now I wish I'd have bought the Boyds first because it fits the barreled action like a glove. I originally wanted a super light rifle but will sacrifice a pound for a good fit barreled action. I'll probably sell the Stockys and keep the Boyds.

Is your boyds pillar bedded ? I have a pro varmint on my 10/22 with adjustable cheeks and it's pretty sweet for a 22

I had a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel. I put it in the Oryx chassis. Its a great stock for the money but it didn't fit me very well. I had the scope raised a lot higher than I usually like a scope to set above the barrel and the cheek piece as low as it would go and still fought it for a comfortable cheek weld on the stock. I ended up selling the rifle. If I had to do it over I would choose a different style stock.

That exceeds 22-250 performance with a 55 grain bullet by 250 fps+. The 22-250 has 46.0 gr case capacity(H2O). 6.5 grendel has 35.0 gr case capacity(H2O). I've seen some numbers around 3100-3200 fps but never 3900. If that's not a typo, that's incredible.

Blanks are here just waiting on a reamer to send to the smith.

Started playing with neck sizing down 6.5 grendel brass to 20 cal

If that performance was run in Quick Load probably be 75K psi or more…!

Using a 3# sledge to open the bolt after firing is probably a hint ..

OK educate me ...... so a heavy barrel but a light stock seems very front heavy to me or am I just another old guy not keeping up with something I don't know about
