New High BC Nosler Bullets

Nosler have introduced a new dual purpose long range bullet with better than Berger target bullet G7, BCs. Have a look at the link below and see how Nosler are claiming higher BC's for the 7mm and 30cal bullets right at the F-Open competition sweet spot. Finally Berger may have a real competitor for the high BC target bullets in this range. These bullets are dual purpose hunting/target long range design.

The question remains, have they given average figures like Berger or have they claimed a high BC for only part of the velocity range on the ballistic curve? I guess we wont know for sure until Bryan Litz actually tests the bullets.

Congrats to Nosler for providing high BC dual purpose bullets with the bonus that they have picked the 7mm and 30 cal sweet spots for target use!

Anyone from Nosler care to comment?

I found a thread on longrangehunting about the 30 cal 210 grain bullets. The author did some impressive testing to determine the effective BC for his rifle. Long story short, his calculated BC was ~.320 G7. Far from Nosler's advertised numbers.

I was impressed because this was not just a scope-comeup test. The author, after having impacts differ significantly from predicted, went so far as to use an accoustic chronograph to find the actual velocity at 1000 yards.

Take a look here:

Ok, that thread gives the Nosler 210gr the same BC as the Berger 210gr VLD and the 200gr Hybrid. Not as good as their claim which was obviously not an average BC like Berger provide. Looks like Nosler have some pretty impressive dual purpose bullets.

I still cant find these in stock anywhere, but am dying to try them. The only concern I have is that I generally shot matches and these are technically "hunting bullets" - I'm wondering if they have the same quality control and consistency that match bullets will have. I know Nosler is good stuff, but different lines may still have different standards. I HOPE they are just as good...

Also, I bet they advertise a "calculated" BC based on the bullet geometry. They advertise the bullet as longer than the equivalent weight VLD, but the Nosler ALRs have the plastic tip, which can't be changing the center of mass that much. I bet they are effectively the same bullet length and sectional density as the VLD.

Still, if they prove to shoot as good as my VLDs, I would love to have one load for matches and hunting.

Busdriver, thank you for the link. I still think these bullets appeal to me once my .300 Win Mag or WSM project ever materializes, particularly the 190 gr weight.
I read all through the 9 pages of the thread and feel they are certainly up to my intended tasks where my potentially longest shot will be just under 500 yds for Whitetail here in KY.

Every thing they say about the LR Accubonds looks good on paper, and I like the Accubonds for hunting, but on my paper they don't shoot as good as the Bergers !

Look, it is a bonded core bullet. It will "never" shoot quite as accurately as a formed cup bullet.

But, it will shoot all the better that it will ever need to for practical big game hunting accuracy at distances that skilled hunters can get within and it won't grenade when it arrives on target. Give me controlled expansion over a dramatic explosion when it comes to a hunting bullet, ANY day.

Depends on what you're hunting. A dramatic explosion when hunting varmints can spread the crow food over a wider area. That way they don't have to fight over morsels 8)

Always liked hunting with Ballistic tips and the high BC Accubonds are appealing. I would prefer they work on production of bullets already available at one time..
