new guy here

i recently built a 6.5 grendel.
i have decided to chase accuracy as much as i can, and that requires me to start reloading
so im going down the rabbit hole,
its not the best time, but i will assemble stuff as i can find it

in the meantime, im here to learn, so please bear with me if i ask any stupid question

thanks

Welcome from New York. I went down the rabbit hole and wish I had taken my time. I bought just about every high end gadget you could think of and have yet to use 25% of what I bought.

You will get some great advise here, much of which I wish I had taken. Start slow .......

Putting 10 shots into a 9" pie pan at 1,000 yards won't win you any medals, but it will make you smile A LOT! Then you can work it down smaller.

Sir the only stupid question is the one not asked. Welcome. Tommy Mc

I'll jump in and pass along something that I found to be real important...............consistency. Starting with your brass. Neck turning, if needed, sizing, shoulder bumping, neck tension,
primer pockets. Keep your routine as consist as possible. Less unintentional variables, the better. Get quality brass prep tools and equipment.

6.5 Grendel You didn't say what platform it is. I assume it's a gas gun.
If it is, consider the accuracy potential of the rifle. You can spend large quantities of money and time chasing something you can never catch. An 1 1/2"-2" barrel is never going to shoot better than that no matter what you do. Press, dies, powder scale, a few trinkets to work on the brass, Then the consumables. One or two powders, two or three bullets, primers. Keep it simple and fun. You'll learn more this way than complicating the hell out of the process. Start slow with just the basics then add convenience items down the road as you gain experience.

The accuracy game is tricky and pricey. Progress slowly. Practice good safety and double check any doubts. Read and ask questions. This site has the most knowledge of anywhere u could possibly visit and most of these guys will share whatever they can to help. Good luck and shoot tiny groups.

Welcome and glad to have you. Read as much as you can on here. Research specific questions you may have on this site as well. Any questions about shooting, handloading, Barrels, etc. have probably been asked and answered before. Lots of knowledge on this site.

Welcome to the forum. When you acquire all the loading stuff. Press, dies, caliper, trimmer and such, your results will depend on how consistent your loads are and the capability of the barrel. I built one last year to shoot hogs and deer with at reasonable ranges. It does pretty good.

How does your gun shoot with factory Hornady ammo? 8208XBR is a good powder with the 123 gr. bullets. I full length size cases but try not to work the brass too much.

Ease into it. Gasser have never been known for extreme accuracy. No matter who's name is on it. I have a straight pull, no gas system, I built in 6.5 Grendel. Bartlein barrel, and it shoots factory ammo 1"+. I'm doing some testing and the rifle I have is VERY accurate. I have 6 bullets shooting .7-.9 MOA. That's as good as it gets in a gas gun.
