NEW F-open Record possible set @Forbes!

It was perfect conditions and I didn't shoot as good as I wanted, but someone did. I don't want to spoil it but he did a dam fine job shooting at 800, 900, and 1000 yards.

Course of fire unlimited sighters at 800, two at 900, two at 1000. 15 shots for record at each distance for 45 shots total.

I learned something. I need a higher rear bag, and I saw a gizmo with a flexshaft to move your windage top left and right.

Basically I am rebuilding and fighting with the rear bag way to move and rebuilding my position and using my elevation wheel too much because of it.

I also need to pay more attention to my head position on the stock. Higher rings I think are in order an edge wood rear bag and convert my windage top for easy access to the left right windage on the top.

When my rifle was on and I was messing with the bag it was nailing x's. Five in a row, but when I had to mess with the elevation and windage knobs I was pulling my rear bag with me and thus rebuilding.

Also when its near 100 degrees put my ammo in a cooler! My first day 1k was horrible. I shot the second 1k on day one with my back-up and it was sitting in the truck of my black car's truck. Accucracy node was definately the culprit, because today in cooler weather my rifle shot nicely!

Yes I use VIN N560 and this is the first time I noticed the ill effects of temperature on the powder. It seems when you hit 90 in the Sun...its bad! At Bodines I always shot and my ammo was under the pavilion between relays. At Forbes it was in direct sun all day long!

So my rifle shoots, If I could only shoot it as good as that guy down one from me :)

Congrats on the new national record you dam Hungarian :) Congrats on Warner tool company for building it!

Yep--Keep your ammo OUT of the SUN and don't let it heat up in a warm chamber.

With my 6BR, I found that 15 minutes in direct sunlight, sitting in an ammo box would raise the temps so the brass was noticeably warm to the touch--110 degrees at least I figure.

I went and chronoed this "hot" ammo and it was running about 80 fps faster than it should. Working backwards from the observed Vels using Quickload, apparently the heat had added about 4000 psi to my loads.

I dare say it's not better than larry B's 448-22 or it wasn't a registered match!

OR IT WOULD BE ALL OVEr THE SITES.

oh, and i think we all would appreiacate it if those who post would sign their TRUE names to what they have written - but than i maybe wrong.

BOB BOCK - CAPT OF THE NATIONAL F - CLASS TEAM SHOT A WHOOPING

449 - 32X!!!

CONGRAT BOB.

I can't find a High Agg. NRA Record, but that good shooting might get him more than one record, the NRA Natonal Records are:

F-Class Open

800 yd. 15 shots 150-12X set 8/9/07 by Chris Long

900 yd. 15 shots 150-7X set 8/9/07 by Steve Podleski

1000yd. 15 shots 145-5X set 8/9/07 Jim Murphy

The link is www.nrahq.org/compete/natl_records.asp

Great job Bob!

I believe the agg would be the F Class Palma Course.
That is for 15 shots at 800, 15 at 900, and 15 at
1000 yds on a LR-FC target.

Another guy, don't remember his name shot a 150/150 14x at 800 yards I believe. He had a hand crafted aluminum stock which I was told was a "Pug" style which he had "improved". He has a machine shop and it looked kinda KEWL.

js223, I still don't find an F-Class Palma Course Record?????
Only F/Open and F/TR in 10, 15 or 20 rounds at 300, 500, 600, 800, 900, 1000.

rhino, A 150-14X at 800 should put him in the record book! I hope someone turned that score in.

Taildrag15x,
The old F-Class open Palma course record was 448-22x. Bock’s 449-32x will be a new record when the NRA gets the paperwork. The NRA web sire lists a 450-55x, but that is a mistake based on the old target. Most of the NRA HP people are at Camp Perry till next month so it may take a while to up date.

Regarding a 800 yard record, if you check the NRA HP rule book Section 22, rule 17 you will see there is no course of fire for 800 yards, 15 shots since that distance is normally fired as part of the Palma course. Therefore, no record can exist for that distance. http://www.nrahq.org/compete/RuleBooks/HPR/hpr-index.pdf

In a Fullbore match such as the SOA matches in Raton 800 yards is a normal CoF so a record does exist based on a score fired during a registered Fullbore match. Held by Chris Long 150-12x http://www.nrahq.org/compete/rules/fullbore_07.pdf

Taildrag15x, using your link: I chose group rifle, discipline F-Class - Open, program all, course all . In the list that comes up, the Individual High Power Rifle Long Range section is at the top. The Palma Course is right under the 20 shots, 1000yds SF Prone, LR/wLRFC TGT.
I checked and after you choose the discipline, you can choose a specific program and/or course at that point too.
