New F-class Rifle, Show & Tell

The wife said she wanted to start shooting F-Class, she's relatively new to shooting rifles so I'm trying my best to coach and all. I decided I wanted to get her a rifle that wouldn't recoil much yet be competitive at 600 yards to get maximum enjoyment. Cost was an issue at first so I thought I'd just throw a barrel and upper receiver together with a scope that we could switch back and forth between my high power rifle's lower, but you know how it goes, I had a spare stripped lower laying around though and one thing led to another and now there's a complete rifle sitting here. Total build cost with scope and all was around $1100.

DPMS 24" 1:8"; YHM upper; SI Defense lower; Rock River 2-stage trigger; Choat stock; Wilson combat charging handle latch; Model 1 tube; JP sling swivels; Burris Sig. Zee rings; Nikon 6-18 Buckmaster; Rock River BCG; DPMS LPK & gas tube.

It seems to shoot, I've only sighted it in and brought her out to the range once with it. I put together some 75 AMaxes at 3015 FPS jammed .005", they're looking promising so far. This is the best group she did that day at 200 yards.

Nice looking AR you have there. It's great when you get to enjoy something you love, like shooting, with your wife. It just makes the experience all that much better for both of you.

I hope the rifle shoots great for her and that she does well with it in competition.

Wayne, its like they say about showing your better half how to shoot, as long as you don't mind being outshot most of the time. ;D

It's okay being out-shot by somebody you taught though, right? At least we can try to take some credit!

I wanted the 8 figuring it'd be perfect for 75s and maybe 80s and it would help keep pressures a little lower than a 7 would develop. I doubt I'd be able to eek 3015 FPS out of a 75 grain in a standard .223 in a 7 twist without pressure issues.

My 8.5 twist 28'' barrel shoots 69 SMKs into one hole at 100 yds and scores regularly 247-248 at 200 yds. Brought my daughter out to shoot for the first time of her life and she shot bug holes too with it. When I asked her if it was fun she said no, that it was too easy! :o
