NEW EYE LENSES--ANY TYPE BETTER FOR SHOOTERS?

So I am getting cataract lens replacement--I explained to my DR what we do--and wanted whats best for shooting--I do not use iron sights much so we discussed using a scope--and my general needs. he says go with Panoptix--it is a tri-focal designed for best outcome--reading, bench work, distance--with the least chance of needing glasses later--wife got them and loves it--she wound up with Very very mild prescrition ( could have done without maybe)
The knocks seem to be halos on night driving--like if you are a truck driver these may not be best but otherwise he says these are the best available
Anyone have any recent experience? I am not looking for my final advice on the internet I will go with what my Dr decides but was interested in your recent experiences and ideas about the matter. I am getting both done. I don't care what it costs totally willing to pay whatever extra to get the best so that does not factor in
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife just got her second eye done yesterday. Already quit wearing glasses around the house. Just got plain lenses put in. Just getting the cataracts removed made a difference. Doug

I had a panoptix put in last year. Very pleased. 20/15 at distance and 20/20 reading. Had multiple inputs that crispness at distance could be a little less than reg implant. Told my doc I would rather give up a little up close to improve my distance. She did a great job.

Downsides - I have significant halos around any lights at night. Very defined rings. Don’t notice as much after a year. If you don’t focus on it, your brain won’t either. You can find very realistic images on the internet of what to expect. You will also not have perfect focus at all close and mid distances. I’m great approximately 16” then a little fuzzy for a few feet, then seem good from there out.

I went from not being able to read my dashboard and needing 2.75 readers to eat my supper to needing nothing unless doing up close detail work, or in very poor lighting. Seems like a miracle if you can accept the negative.

Strongly suggest having a Dr that does a lot of mult focal implants. Like 1,000s not a couple every few weeks. Guess there’s a lot they need to get right. If you do it, pls PM with your results.

This Dr did my inlaws--and this year did the wife--both eyes--I was at her side for both and like the way he handled it all--her results have been amazing--I do have faith in my guy at least--the choice of lenses depends some on your measurements and your eye--
Always good to hear direct from a horses mouth so Thanks for the input--I am thinking if I can shoot with my bad eye now anything should help

I ask my eye doctor if there was any way to put a corrective lens on the outside of my scope that is the same as my glasses . He just laughed and said no .

The lens offered does have possibilities of halos at night and also flashes at all times of the day or night.

Got both eyes done in November with the Panoptix toric and so far so good. My near vision is getting better by the day but I can easily read a book and have just a bit of difficulty with tiny print close up. Colors are also much brighter and bluer which was apparent the minute one was done. I was living in a yellow world and didn't even know.
My medium and far vision is also good and getting better. I drive a lot at night and had some stars on red lights before but it is
actually much better now. It's a 3% chance of getting the larger halos and they are supposed to shrink over several months.
Sometimes my eyes get tired at night and I want to take off my glasses but now that means shutting my eyes and resting them. I haven't tried a scope or shooting yet but I'm really confident it will be ok.
Good luck.

I answered this in the post you made in the Competition section.

I have had zero issues.
