New dasher

I just had a dasher built on a 700 action and a 28" Brux 1:7.83 twist barrel. I'm shooting Berger 105 hunting vld. This is my 600 and 1000 yard light gun. So my question is what can you tell from this OCW test? I shot them in round robin fashion. No pressure up to 33 grs. All with varget and jammed .010. Where to go from here? Thanks!

I would take the 32 and 32.4 and try it at 300. If it looks promising there i would then play around with seating depth and neck tension. I like testing at 300 because conditions wont really kill you and its easier to tell what the gun likes. Just my opinion. Or load some test and go shoot it at 1000 lol

Hey man congrats on the new baby!!

Yeah that sounds good! I just shot again and it looks like it's going like the bullets jammed a little more. @ 32.6 varget and 105 vld H. Jammed .020 it shot .189". So now I'll shoot it at 300.

You really need to test out farther. 600 would be a better test. Sometimes good ES numbers and accurate 100 yard loads fall apart at distance. Matt
I agree. I always like to test at the yardage I'll be shooting at the match, gives me a peace of mind know what to expect on match day

I have always found if it s a nice tight round no vertical at a hundred it will do the same at 600 yards

Never shot jammed except to fireform. Not sure my comments are valid as pressure might be an issue.

I have shot Varget and 105 Hybrids in 4 different Dashers using 5 different barrels. All of them shot best from 33.0 to 33.5 grains.

+1 on that Matt.
I'm @33.0 of Varget with 105 hunting VLD's, Have shot multiple sub 5" groups @ 1k.

Jamming the bullets doesn't guarantee better accuracy.

Also if your bore and groove sizes are to the proper spec. (.237" x .243") at 32.0 of Varget your at 52k cup on pressure (We've made ammunition pressure test barrels) if the bore is tighter and or groove tighter it will drive the pressure up more. Going beyond that (hotter on your loads) the pressure is going to go up more and be harder on the brass. Also you might get out of the accuracy window with that load and looking at your targets it looks like that's what was starting to happen. To confirm that like has been suggested it would be better to test at distance. Pay attention to the vertical.

+1 on jammed presure

So what would you guys consider a good group at 300 yards to compete? I have a couple of loads that are shooting .7 and .8 at 325 yards?

Top right is 33.1 varget with 105 vld hunting bullet just touching the lands @ 325 yards. Measured .542" Going to load .1 either side and shoot again this week.

I know it's not the answer your looking for, but try 107's & 108's.

107's are the bullet for my Dasher & BRX, FWIW.

I have shot some 108's. best group is .8 or so at 325 with 32.8 varget? what load are you shooting in you dasher if you don't mind me asking?

What ever load has the least vertical dispersion at 300yds, is my advice.
Try to do all your "fine tuning" at distance, is also my advise; primarily vertical dispersion.
Good Luck

So looking at my last attached target pic, the upper right load has IMO very little vertical? The left in right I would say is me. So 1 bullet hole vertical is not bad at 325 yards right?
