New Dasher Brass Testing Results

Gabe,

I may have to try this combo with the 87 Vmax it has plenty of speed in your rig, thanks for the heads up...

I just thought I would share my experience with the new Norma 6 Dasher brass. I ordered 200 rounds from one of the members here. After receiving it I began to hear that some guys were having issues with it. Now I'm wondering if this new bras is really going to save me any time. I contemplating returning it but then thought "what the hell, can't be harder than making dasher brass the old way". I promptly inserted a new case into my Dasher only to find that the bolt did not want to close. Forcing it shut rolled the top part of the neck inward. Time to turn and trim. I used a Neilsen pumpkin neck turner and expander mandrel to start things off. The necks cleaned up very nicely..next step was to the wilson trimmer. I set the case length at 1.5560 and off I went cutting brass. For my loading I use CCI 450 primers, berger 108vld target bullets (66 bushing) and RE15 Powder. My gun is a Panda action with a Broughton 5c barrel, heavy Palma finished at 30" plus the Harrel brake. Yesterday I competed in a local siilloute varmint match that I shoot at every month. The distances are 200,300,400,500,600. My load was 33.0 grains of RE15 with the berger set about 10 off the lands. I placed my new Labradar on my bench to check my loads. The FPS was very consistent 2990-3005. The gun was dialed in and I cleaned 200,300,400 droped one at 500 and then the evil wind came up at 600. My spotter was having trouble communicating, I followed his info telling me that I was hitting high..so I aimed right at the bottom of the steel target to compensate, only to find when I got up on the hill,,that my shots were not high and actually hitting precisely where I was aiming..Tied high score for my class, however because I dropped one more at 6 than the other guy I ended up with second. I was anxious to get to the reloading bench when I came home to have a close look at the brass. NO primer pocket issues..necks were still pristine. Didn't loose a single piece. The cases had not shrunk anymore than than just a couple of thousands. The brass chambered up just as before...snug with just a little bold pressure. Time will tell but I like this brass better than the lapua..The brass itself seems to be a bit softer. I didn't come home with a trophy but I came home happy...good day of shootin. I give it a thumbs up..
