NEW CZ 457 TRIGGER--FROM DESERT PRECISION

Saw on YouTube. You get a new trigger shoe and spring $69 and can get 3- 4oz pull
I am going to try one for grins though I am not a fan of straight trigger but figure give it a try
Video on Youtube is under PMT CZ Trigger --he calls it poor mans Trigger--available in stainless for $69 or Plastic for $19--pretty interesting idea and at 3-4 oz range if it works as good as it looks like ummm Glad I did not go for a $500 Italian job

They said the plastics for $19 were working great! Again the name Poor mans Trigger but when I mentioned I shoot ARA they said go with the Stainless version--will see--can't wait--looks like an innovative solution to the problem--I am guessing the long trigger uses leverage to make it work but the videos on youtube shows crispy break etc --Kenny is a smart guy I think these might be the product of the year who knows--I will report asap

There are many articles on the Spring Job and stoning 457 Triggers with a 3-6 dollar spring?
check out Rim Fire Central............
Good Luck
I have done all of that we have 5 MTR's and have used every trigger available
But we shoot benchrest--not PRS style so we do better with better triggers

This just looks like an innovative way for reasonable $$ to get that very low pull weight bench guys seem to like

I can't see why a stock trigger with a spring will not do 90% of what folks do with a CZ --I get that but bench rest shooting is different for sure and this just looks like a better mouse trap for the price of a couple of boxes of Midas--

At any rate I will report back and let folks know--I have used Jard ( mushy) Timney ( good but not as light as I like ), stock with spring and perfect sear adjustment--about as good as it gets if 9- 10 oz range suits you ( gets dicey much below that) safe but not the same every pull is my experience so...........I am willing to try DP's new offering

UPS just dropped off the new DP Gunworks trigger
We have 5 MTR CZ's and shoot ARA Factory most of the time so always after a bench rest style trigger pull
So far we have been very satisfied with a spring and very careful adjustment of the factory triggers--once you figure out the sear adjustment is the key they are easy to get to a decent and Reliable 7-8 oz They will go lower and do 5-6 oz but get a little unstable--not the same every pull at all and in general just not as safe or consistent
Enter the PMT ( Poor Mans Trigger) from Desert Precision I think we have a couple of the first ones shipped
Ashley is a peach on the phone and we got excellent service when ordering and fast delivery
Out of the package it looks Nice! Comes with two pull weight springs--I installed the lower marked 4-8 oz
Followed his clear directions and was testing in a couple of minutes. First time in the stock OOPS! Trigger hits the inside of the trigger guard--quick call Kenny says he used a different CZ stock and only the MTR stocks seen to have this issue--they suggested a couple of washers between the bottom metal and stock to lower the bottom metal and make room
I decided that with the minimal screw engagement on the MTR to start with umm nope --I would shave on the trigger a bit--a quick massage with a scotch brite pad on the die grinder and issue solved--
The trigger really wants about 5 1/2 - 6 oz of pull to be really happy and consistent ---The sear screw seemed sort of free in the threads but Kenny says there is a nylon in there --all good.
How It Feels--
It Feels Great! After about 3o minutes of playing around with sear , over travel and weight adjustments it seems happy at 6 oz pull weight and a little more than the minimum 180 degree out sear screw adjustment
Even at that weight it Feels good--Once on the bench actually using the rifle the trigger feels good--side by side with one of my spring swapped well tuned factory triggers it is lighter feeling though the measured pull weight is not that much less than the factory one set at 7-8 oz

Kenny says he has already "tuned" the shape on the next batch--when contacted Ashley got right on it after I sent photo and Kenny called in a few minutes.

Will know more in a while after I get some targets shot--and get a better impression.
Right now--I would give it a Big Thumbs Up!! For the small amount of $ it is a WINNER!

with Patience it is just a matter of turning screws - going-in and out of the stock a half dozen times maybe --to get it just right.

It Would go way down 3-4 oz and actually felt crazy good but would slam fire on mine--
This is just MY experience--your mileage may vary--

Playing with it more this afternoon
I Like the flat trigger--was not sure about that at all but it feels good and the big thing is it sits further forward than the stock curved trigger--for my hand so far that seems just fine. That may turn out to be a very good thing
I did notice a fair amount of side play--so I installed a .004 shim between the trigger and housing--I get these from Triggershims.com -- It felt a lot better--- every trigger I have shimmed seems different--you just get an assortment and play with it

Here are more photos comparing a stock shoe vs the new PMT
I think the trigger surface moved forward will help a lot of shooters with bigger hands--I like it so far
here you can see that the PMT is thinner where it goes in housing--It was smoother after I added .004 shim from Lance at Triggershims.com ( nice guy-great service)

After playing with it more on the bench I really like it--has been raining so will be a day or so before I can send some rounds and really decide but right this minute I think for the money these are going to sell like crazy--a real step up over a spring replacement

OK
Got my first bench time with the new trigger and live ammo
I am impressed! I was not sure about how far forward the trigger was from factory but I think I like that a LOT better for my hand size.
I am ordering more for our other CZ's that we use on the bench
For Long Gong and PRS style I think I will stay with the stock trigger and spring

I have played with this trigger a Lot in last couple of days--the lighter spring actually says Not Drop Safe on the envelope it is in--as I mentioned at about 5-6 oz and with a little extra "back out" on sear engagement mine IS drop safe pass the bump test
But...if I run the sear engagement in it will get to 3-4 oz and it feels crazy good! At that adjustment it will Not pass a bump test but man is it tempting to try off the bench
These are a Home Run for CZ shooters!

I cheaped out with a 3-6oz Jard for BR competition when the Yodave spring was not quite enough.I moved it below safe to 2.5 oz. The trigger feel was my only complaint as it felt different each pull. Probably me.
Friends tell me the TriggerTech Diamond is the true cats pajamas. Will be trying one Wednesday.

Jard felt mushy as mashed potatoes to me also
The trick with this is that it moves the trigger forward --and flat seems to encourage good habits on trigger pull to me

I got lucky ??
Jard 3oz. out of the box in my 457 Perfect. I did not move one screw of adjustment.
Even a Blind man gets Lucky once in awhile.
Great! I have heard a lot of reports--several like yours--folks very happy--then several where no matter what they could not adjust them to happiness--Like anything I guess..glad yours works good!!

All triggers can be tricky--I have a Rifle Basix on a Savage --it was a royal PIA to get it right took days but finally --when right--it has been just perfect--so I get it for sure
