New Conceal pistol?

46and2

Silver $$ Contributor
I'm looking for a new conceal pistol.

Right now I have my eye on Kahr P40 or S&W MP40. But I'm unsure of the S&W trigger concept on their 40sw offerings.

I've been packing a 38sp revolver (because I don't want to have to stop to pick up brass if I'm in a hurry;)). But it's bulky.
I feel like the 40sw will have a bit more stopping power...

Is there any reason not to go with the 40sw?
Would it be worth it to reload for?
Which bullet or ammo is preferable, FMJ, hollow point for a 40sw?

Thanks in advance.

Look at a Glock 27. I bought one and like it. Try to handle one first, tho. It is small. I’d highly recommend taking a look at a Beretta PX Storm in 40. It’s one of my favorite shooters. Very nice handling gun and very accurate for me.
Reload for it? Absolutely! I buy copper plated Xtreme bullets by the thousand box. It makes great practice ammo. Lite loads, stout loads.....you get to pick.

Take a look at the Smith Airweight hammerless with a rosewood grip. It IS a 5-shot revolver. If you do decide to go with a compact auto for reactionary self-protection, get 1k ammo to train with. There is a lot more to go wrong with that type of gun. I also suggest going with a 9mm if you decide to not go with the revolver.

I agree Rick, if you are new to semi-auto carry practice is a must. I carry a S&W 642 everyday in warm weather. Conceals well under a t-shirt and a speedloader in each pocket. In the winter I carry a Glock 19. I prefer to carry appendices style. But I constantly train with both firearms in the manner that I carry them. Jeff

My carry is a SIG 938 9MM.
I use the extended Mags to add grip for my large hand.
1911 controlls are second nature to me having shot these for 40 years and with
the 9MM golden saber loads the performance is said to be great.
The pistol is a great size and easy to conceal.
Your and other lives can depend on your ability to operate any carry gun and practice
should be a priority.

I’ve got a small pile of conceal carry handguns in the safe from Glock, Springfield, Kimber, Sig Sauer, Taurus, and others. Shot them all many times weighing the pros and cons between them all...

And the Sig P365 is what I choose as my main carry gun. Glock 43X would be second.

Dang! I bought a 43x and not the Sig. I guess I have to buy one to try? Oh well!
Haha. The a Glock is an awesome carry gun. Fits the hand so well and function is flawless as is the case with all Glocks. Only advantage for the Sig between my two personal pistols is that the Sig is a little more accurate across the board with anything you feed it. And I attribute that to the Sig being more forgiving on grip pressures and form. To shoot the Glock accurately your grip and pressures have to be on point. With the Sig you can shoot it from all kinds of different positions without worrying about your grip and form so much. I can shoot the Sig almost as accurately with one hand as I can shoot the Glock squared up with two hands

^^^^ This. Perhaps no better conceal gun.

I have carried about all the sizes of Glock over the years.
I will finish my days carrying Glocks, I think there are better options out there now, but I am all geared up for the Glocks.
If I were starting from scratch, I would take a good long look at the Springfield Hellcat.

Thanks guys. I ended up getting the P365 9mm Luger. Sweet little thing.

I am thinking of getting a P365XL soon. 20220821_155822.jpg20220821_155812.jpg

I think you did well.

I have an original SS Kahr MK2. I love the revolver trigger and quality. But things have changed in 25 years!

If I were starting over I would do the Sig. Just nice stuff.
