New Chemical to Clean Carbon from Barrels

I received my January issue of Precision Shooting yesterday. This is the first issue of the magazine on over a year that has been worth reading. It seems that they have gone back to their old format and are not printing reviews on flashlights, knives and can openers etc.

On page 8, Irv Benzion has tested a new product called Slip 2000tm's Carbon Cutter. The article states " Let me state Unequivocally that Slip 2000tm's is a product which stands at the pinnacle in its ability to remove carbon fouling from gun barrels."

For copper removal, he said that Bore Tech makes a product called Eliminator that is the best he has ever used.

He used a Bore Scope the examine the barrels during the test.

Both of these products are said to be nontoxic.

Have any of you had any experience with either of these two products?

I use Boretech Eliminator and LOVE it!!! I found that 2-3 wet patches, let it sit for 2-3 hours, then a few more wet then dry patch and EVERYTHING is gone!
The first 2 patches take out most of the carbon then the rest 'eliminates' the copper and remaining carbon.
I have tried the other smelly, foammy, or otherwise undesireable chemicals and have found Eliminator to be far easier and superior.

I have used Slip 2000 carbon cutter for a couple of years. I would not say it is the answer to all our prayers. In addition to F class, I also shoot cowboy action and have pretty dirty cylinders in them six-guns. Even after soaking in Slip 2000, the cylinders need to be scrubbed with a brass brush pretty vigorously. When trying Slip 2000 on a patch to work the barrel, I was not very impressed. Mpro 7 does a much better job at removing carbon using the patch and brush in the barrel. I've also used Dunk-it which I like a lot except for the greasy feeling that stays with me and the metal parts for a while. Frankly, even for my six-gun cylinders I've converted all my carbon cleaning over to Mpro 7; but I keep looking. I've got a preverbial store of all the gun cleaning and lubricating products.

Do you have a bore scope? Need to read the latest Precision Shooter. I am afraid you are in for a big unpleasant surprise. Very Very interesting.,still have to brush to get it all)

Slowpoke, my response was relative only to carbon. Copper,or lead in my other shooting life) is another matter. The best is the electric Outers Foul Out cleaning system. Some other chemical only cleaners like 50BMG or Extreme are OK but may not get down to the metal all the time.
