New bullet!

Anyone shot/tried any of these in 6.5? Good BC at .571!

The Bonded Core counts for something (ALOT)when it comes to being used for hunting apps.

Nope. Never will with a worse BC than Berger, Hornady or Lapua and at a higher cost.

Depends....on what the ROT is for the best choice IMO! My rifle has a Krieger 1-8.5 and I don't want to shoot a 139-140 gr. bullet...which is the ONLY bullet weights that top the 'Rocco' bullet for BC! The Berger 130 BC is .552, Hornady 140 BC=.585, Hornady 129 gr.=.485 BC and the Lapua 139 gr.=.615 BC. These are BCs coming from the appropriate bullet makers. And as the 'Rocco' bullet is listed at .571 BC in the 130 gr. weight......IMO it's the best performer for my rifle/purpose. In spite of all the 'hoopla' stated/written about Berger bullets being top game bullets..I'm not convinced that a jacketed lead-cored (non-bonded) HP bullet is the best thing to use! I made the same type bullets for years using J-4 jackets and of the deer I took using .30 caliber bullets....all bullets suffered total fragmentation and that...I don't care for! Just my opinion.

I'm shooting 123 AMax or 123 Scenars and 140 AMax oe 140 VLDs. I'm killing paper, I've found that these thin J4 jacketed bullets and the like perform well even on the thick skinned NRA paper targets and even corrugated cardboard!

I have an 8 twist, I can and do run the 140s fine.

If they suit your hunting needs great, I just don't see those bullets being used in competition, especially at that price, they're even more than JLK.

Don't intend to use for any comp; only hunting! As to comp I use 123 gr. SMKHP which will shoot into less than 6" at 1000 yds!

I have about 1000 of them from when they first came out... as I remember, they shot about as well as a Norma 130 grain.

I have found the 123 Scenars have in fact a quite hard jacket. I've now shot a lot of small game with them and even at close range with a 2945 MV, they just don't come apart at all. Rather disappointing actually :-\

This is in contrast to the orig 155 Palma MatchKing which has a super soft jacket.

I've never given any regard to price when it came to hunting bullets, all I ever wanted was the most effective bullet I could find. I shot sciroccos for years. They may be new to the 6.5 cal but they're not in 27,7mm, or 30. I won't shoot them any more as I have found something more effective and humane for taking game. Berger 140's shoot great out of my 9 twist Pac Nor and kill the likes of Elk sized game very effectively. I have more than a little experience with scirocco's and would never shoot a bull elk with a scirocco smaller than a 150 7mm 'rocco'. Different strokes for different folks I guess?

Give them a try, cant hurt and you could try them out on a varmint to get an idea what they can do.I would go for it.

Jabali,
I too have used the 130's in .277". I found a load that consistently shot under .65 in my 270 Win. That was my go to gun for a long time simply because I had all the confidence in the world in it. I took a coyote with that rifle at just shy of 500 yards using the swifts. This bullet brought me much success over the years and if I had to say I'd place it higher on my list of favorites than A-frames, Partitions, Accubonds, X's, and many other premium hunting bullets. I did however lose the biggest mule deer buck that I personally have ever saw alive in my entire life while using this bullet/rifle combo. I was given the chance to hunt some private property and spotted the monster over 1800 yards away. I stalked to within 600 yards and when he busted me I carefully took the shot he presented. One scirocco right through the boiler room! I aimed for the front shoulder but missed rearward just a little. He ran, and ran, and ran. Three of us tracked him for over 550 yards and then the blood trail ended. The reason I know where he was hit and just how big he was is because he was found later that year by a sheep herder. His rack had been gnawed on by porcupines and other animals and his carcass mainly stripped by coyotes but the herder took pictures and gave them to the land owner. We estimated his spread at over 35" and the remaining points were in the 13X7 neighborhood. I would carry this rifle again using this same bullet but would only cry if given the same shot opportunity all over again. Honestly, this is the only bad experience I have to share about Sciroccos but it affected me enough that I began looking for a different bullet.

6" at 1K? How many shots?

I have used Nosler Accubond, Hornady SST's, Sierra Game Hunter, Match Kings, Barnes TSX and TTSX, Berger VLD's, and lately I'm loaded with Hornady AMax for deer, hogs, coyotes, and anything else that walks in South Texas. I have found that if you hit them right, bullet construction doesn't make too much difference, nor does caliber.

I could dispatch hogs, coyotes, and javalinas out to 700 yards using my 6BR loaded with 105 Berger VLD's, but my hunting partners using 300 WSM's and 300-378 Weatherby's with 168 gr. Bonded bullets couldn't even dispatch deer at 100 yards! Explain that!
