So could a surefire muzzle brake cause a ar15 to not cycle properly? (Short stroke) only thing left i can think of ....

How many rounds are on the rifle. We need more imfo like who made the upper and what components you are using along with ammo stats in order to help you.

Its a colt upper it has about 600 rounds down it. Worked great till i changed stock and drake iv tried both springs and buffers .

Any possibility you got dirt in the buffer tube vented screw that holds the stock on? The other thing could be that the gas port was just at the verge of plugging up at the same time you changed the stock or the gas tube as well.

Oh crap forgot about the vent hole .the gas tube was cleaned about 100-150 rounds ago , only reason i thought about the brake was its has big chambers.

IF you remove the brake and find that this short-stroke only occurs with the brake on, go to Wolf Gun Springs and buy a "reduced Power" mainspring. Costs about $10.00 - $15.00 and takes one minute to install. Short stroking typically occurs with light bullets and heavy guns - whether it is stock weight, barrel weight or just a lot of accessory weight. The extra weight dampens the centrifical force upon firing that actually helps to cycle to rifle. Assuming your gas block is properly aligned with the barrel port, this should provide a cure for your ailment.
