NEW Berger 270 cal VLD bullets

Announcing the NEW Berger 270 cal. 130gr. VLD, 140gr. VLD, and 150gr. VLD.

We have resolved all of our production issues and are making the 130gr. bullets right now, with the 140s and the 150s to follow.

The size of the first run for each bullet will be consistent with an introductory release.

If you want to receive some of the bullets from this first run, we strongly recommend that you place an order with your dealer or directly with Berger at 714-447-5456 as soon as possible.

Our BC and twist rate recommendations will be released soon. However, the bullets were designed to work in a 1 in 10” twist.

Please email Michelle Gallagher at michelle.gallagher@bergerbullets.com if you have any questions.

Regards,
Eric

Eric,

Great news on your new bullets. With all the new products you have introduced, do you have anything in the works in 25 caliber? This seems like a forgotten caliber as your 115 VLD is the only viable alternative. Any chance of a heavy 115-120 grain non-VLD in 25 caliber?

Mike

Mike,

We are planning a 125 gr VLD and likely heavy non-VLD as well. This will take time since we have other bullets that are going to be introduced first. Look for the heavier 25 cal late 2008.

Eric

Great as long as you don't shoot the 6.8 in 3 gun events.
They're just to long to work at mag length.
We needed a .277 with a decent BC because everyone is placing targets at 400yds now.
When the targets are over 200yds it's hard to hear a 5.56 hitting the steel so a bunch of us swapped to the 6.8 and most of us are using the Speer 90gr TNTs around 2950fps but, the BC is only .276.
Maybe next year

This is great news, Thanks Berger. This is exactly what the .25 caliber needed. Keep it up Berger and you will have a good portion of my paychecks in the future. Look foward to these two bullets!

I don't understand what the problem is with your 6.8-SPC and using a longer, higher BC bullet that will give even better accuracy to your 400 yards plates?
- plain on jumping them
- use a different throat length
Don't those low BC 90's get blown all over the place in the wind?

Happy Shooting

I've been using this is for 3 gun events so I would never know if they are blown or not, shooting on the run off car hoods and fence post, as long as I hear a ding I'm good:D
The tangent of the ogive is back in the case and the bullet eats up alot of powder room. A longer throat will not help when loading at mag length, I already have about .090 jump.
I'm getting 2900-2950fps from the 90gr TNTs and they are cheaper so maybe I'm better off since we shoot 3- 400 rounds almost every weekend.
I was hoping for something we could load to mag length for the steel praire dog shoots out to 475 next spring and the longer 3 gun shots. Hoser says the P dogs are 4x7 so I may need something that doesn't get blown around. If I can't get the accuracy out of the 6.8 then I'll use the 6mm or 6.5,I just hate losing Lapua brass.
