New Berger 144g Hydid vs 140 Hybrid accuracy at 600-1000 yard BR?

Anyone compared the two head to head in a longrange BR rifle at 600-1000 yards. I am trying a 6.5x47L again. I tried one when they very first came out about 15 years ago. Decent accuracy, but not very much info or bullets for it back then. I see where the 140 Hybrids have done very well in LR competition. Just wondering if the 144g Hybrids shot as accurate at 600-1000 yards in BR rifle off a bench.

I have run a few of the 144s . I have had mixed results . early testing looked good . I ran them @ a groundhog shoot , shot small group of the day 2" @ 500 ( 30 guns at the match ) conditions were ugly I ended up in 2nd place . I shot two 1000 yd matches with them , had some flyers , 8 and 9 shots @ 5" and 1 or 2 out . 1 target 15" 1 target 17" . I would like to further test ,but until than I will use the 140s

Sam, the 144’s did a little better for me at 600 but neither do nearly as well for for me as the 140 LRBT... same findings on 3 different 6.5 barrels. Have not tried at 1000... may be a lot different when they get stretched out?

I just ordered a box of 144 and 153.5 for my brand new 6.5x47 HG. I'd be interested in staying in touch about how it goes for you guys. First 50 rounds yesterday was with Peterson brass, RL16, and 147ELD and I got 2850fps without any signs of pressure so I stopped there (long tube and a slow pour, not much room left). With that much speed on the table with this barrel, I felt comfortable buying some of the new 153.5 to try too.

Evan, my latest barrel, 8t Krieger , loves the 156’s but I’ve been running them around 2730. I’ve been thinking of trying the 153.5’s myself. Let us know what you find. I could get to the low 28’s with the 156 but accuracy was falling off so I backed down to the lower node

In an 8 twist Creedmoor out to 500 yards, I seen no real
gain over the 140 RDF's with R-16. That's all the work I
put into it. Group wise for what I was seeing and the range
at which I shot it with, the Bergers were over priced.

Interesting. I was using Hornady 140 match on my 6.5 mm creed. Bought a box of 140 bergers (hybrid Targets) and found that the hornady's gave me better groups at 600 and 1000 then the bergers did. Now with that said the 105 Bergers on my 6mm Creed were better than the Hornady's.

Ain't long distance shooting fun???

My dad used the 140 Hybrid Target on one 4x4 mule deer, he shot it at about 200 yards, initial velocity was 2855 (6.5x55 24") and it performed great, about a 1.5" exit center body in the crease of the shoulder, perfect squared off broadside shot. Deer did a death sprint of about 100 yards and crashed into a fence. Judging from that, I would give these 144's a shot if they fit the bill for my cartridge, and/or if I lived at low elevation with an 8 twist.

Planning to try these with a .260 Rem. Was going to try it with H4350 and and H4831. Has anyone these with much the 144gn Berger’s in a .260Rem?

@SHall So over a 2 day, 1000yard BR match, I shot the 153.5 Hybrid on day one, and the 144 on day two. Both days I shot 4" and 6" groups with what I consider to be a crudely optimized load - I ran out of time when match week arrived.

I've had a large number of groups in the 1" range at 450 yards and a couple that dropped down to 0.6" (about 0.125 MOA by my quick mental math) with a variety of powders tested, from IMR-4064 up to RL-16 in burn rate. At this point, I don't think either of these bullets are going to set the world on fire. As my skill catches up, perhaps my 1000yd groups will begin to shrink to more closely match my 450yard results. I guess the 0.6" groups would be 1.25" at 1000... if it worked like that in reality.

The two shoot just about the same in the wind. The additional speed I get with the 144 shores up the BC gap with the 153 at 1000yards. I think that PRS and F-class folks will probably be quite pleased with both though: they stay centered up real nicely in the wind and seem entirely capable of regular 0.25MOA accuracy without sorting them or doing anything special.
