New Bergara B14R Carbon "Ejection" Issue

I had the same problem with my B14R carbon. Installed a 3mm ball bearing behind the spring.
Looking at the bolt face it is on the right side. I have not had an issue since the installation.

That makes sense, thanks. I read on one YouTuber's site that the pins hold the bolt extractors must be replaced after removal.
This is why I did not take mine apart yet. Your take on that? Thanks

The holes the pins go in used to be tapered, drive pin out from the top of the bolt and reinstall pin in same direction. The newer guns pins appear to be straight bored , still I would drive out from the top and replace the same way they came out.

A tip to getting everything lined back up for installation, use a straightened paper clip that goes through the pin to align pin, tension lever and hole, finger pressure will get the pin started centered. Use punch to finish.

I have done quite a few, never had an issue. I use a butane lighter spring inside the OEM spring at the same length, solves the issue.

Appears the newer guns have a slightly different profile on the tensioner and extractor claws. Either way the older guns need more tension to hold the case against the bolt to allow the case to hit the ejector firmly. It's a balancing act, too much pressure and the case will not go up completely into the bolt face.

For those that have ejector wiggle, instead of staking, you can wedge material in the opeining the ejector fits into. I use a piece of medium sized tywrap cut in a wedge shape and tap in opening. Done many this way and never had any wedges fall out. Some fill the opening with RTV, anything to fill the void.

These mods have worked for me on many B 14R rifles, your experience may be different. The latest rifles like my 20" HVY required no mods, worked fine out of the box.

That’s inaccurate.

If you get a new set of extractors Bergara will send the pins and at that point you could replace the pins.

I’ll remove them after a few months of shooting and clean them, then reuse the factory pins.

I’ve replaced a couple sets of extractors and when I put new ones on, I’ll put new pins in.

Use a good punch correctly sized to drive them out and then be careful putting them back in and you’ll be fine.

Is the correct size 1/16" ?

Thank you all for the help.

it only took a week for the US distributor to respond to my request for support.
They sent a form to print, complete and return asking for the information I had
supplied with my request.
