New Bergara B14R Carbon "Ejection" Issue

The barreled action I ordered a month ago just cleared my FFL late yesterday
so I took it to the range. After shooting the steel barreled version a bit I removed that
action & Barrel and installed the Carbon and the TT Diamond trigger. The new action seemed
a little looser than the Steel. After about 20 rounds the empty shells stopped leaving the action
causing me to have to remove the mag to drop out the shot casing. Any idea what would be causing this?
FYI Ammo was Fed Auto Match.

Thanks

Maybe not. Several thousand rounds through mine, never a hiccup.
Yeah, I don’t have one, but it’s common enough that it’s out there everywhere to watch or read about. I know of more than one retailer that won’t let one go out the door without taking 10 minutes to stake it.

Glad you got a good one :D

Couple things that I’ve seen:

The extractors can be picky. With cheap ammo it’s possible they’re not grabbing the rim and it’s pulling the shells back but not enough to allow the ejector to flip it out.

The chamber is dirty creating the same situation as above.

The bolt face is dirty thus not allowing the extractors to engage, same as above.

The extractors wear out. 15-20 thousand rounds and you’ll want to switch them. Maybe sooner. It will cause the same thing to happen.

There have been a handful of the early B14r’s that people staked the ejectors on to help with ejecting the shells. It’s an easy thing to do, watch a quick YouTube video. I’ve not had to do it with three of them that I own.

No.

I have two that have over 75k rounds on each and I can count the ejection issues I’ve had with one hand.
The b14r came out 5 years ago and you ran through 150k rounds in your 2 rifles. I need to go shoot more? And apparently need to budget more for ammunition. That, sir, is impressive. 30 cases of ammo. One man. Not a team?

Thanks I will check YouTube for the video.
The Carbon fiber barrel and action I bought were new.
Not sure what staking is but I will look into that.
The steel barrel B14 I have has not ever had these issues.

Don’t all them have to have the ejector staked to work?
No, I've set up 5 B 14R's to date. The first 3 (early production) did need/benifit from staking the ejector. The last 2 ( 2024/25) , had ejectors that had zero movement as delivered. Bergara has done a good job of listening to their customers and implimenting improvements along the line. I've found that the bolts run smoother and with less felt cocking force on the later ones too. My latest B14r throws all ejected cases consistantly into a 8" circle regardless of how I run the bolt.

I went through the gun carefully last night. There is no 'play' with the post designed for releasing the left side extractor so staking is not going to resolve anything. The spring on one extractor seems not to be fully
centering the extractor-i.e. keeping it pushed inward.

Ejector not extractor?

Pardon my ignorance. Is one side an extractor and the opposite an ejector? That is what
I had thought. Extractor on the right side of a right ported gun.

I went to the range today to see if I substituted the bolt from my B14 steel with the one that came
with the Carbon if that would impact the problem of non ejection. It did. Now I suppose I will
be dealing with a warranty repair from Bergara as this is a new barreled action.

The ejector is in the receiver not the bolt.

Google b14r ejector. Lots of videos
