new bench gun...HELP

Hi all, I am new to this forum and have a few questions. I may have gotten myself in a pickle with this but....
I just got a bench gun from a privet sale and do not know a thing about it. It is a 22BR with a .249 neck. It has a mcmillin edge stock, rem 700 action, 21" stainless barrel, 8oz trigger and the name on the barrel is...Neil B Waltz.
What type of gun is this? Is it a light varmint class, Ect? I got this gun at a good price and could not pass it up. $750.00. I shot it yesterday and got a group that is in the low 3's but still neet to play with loads. Anyone have any info to help me? Thank you

You'll have more fun with that 22br than your probably allowed to.
The weight is what makes it a light varmint or not.
The necks will probably need to be turned for it if your using new brass, if some came with it, then no problem.
Has the action been blueprinted ?
Sounds like a good deal to me.
That stock isn't a cheap one.
it all sounds like a good pickle to be in....

Thanks, I got new norma brass and a redding comp. die set with the bushings. I turned all the necks last night. I am having a hard time finding a good load. I cleaned the barrel and the groups went to pot on me. I am using 29.5grs of h-322 with 55gr nosler ballistic tips and br 4 primers. If amyone has a good load I am all ears.

Took the gun to R W HART yesterday. Had him put a custom break on it and snake skin glass beading on the barrel. It looks amazing and Hart took the time to do the trigger to 2oz, bore scope the barrel, it is a new hart barrel.) added a new weaver T-36. I would recomend Hart to anyone. He answered all my questions and only charged me for the break and glass beading of the barrel. Scope was at dealer cost, $20.00 off the break and $10.00 off the glass beading. Plus 2.5 hours of his time. I can't say enough about them.:)

WOW!!
There are plenty of competent smiths in the same general area. I would reccomend one of them over Hart anyday. I do hope that everything works out fine for you though.

So why don't you say what you really feel about Hart's? They haven't been in business as long as they have been by doing bad work.

I take it you have never had a Hart gun nor seen them build one. Like I said before there are many competent smiths around ie:
Piccaretta
King
Montour Rifles
Long
Goodling
Anesi

Do a little research on here and other shooting forums to choose your gunsmith.

Looks like I may have opened a can of worms, and I am new to this site. Well I shot the rifle today and am getting close to one hole at 100 with a starting load. I think the groups will shrink with some load development.

fuchart, since you have disabled PM's and email, I'll assume your intentions here are less than genuine...

I hope you plan to do more than bash Hart's if you want to be here long...

Your handle is bordering on obscene as well, FYI...

It is great to have opinions, but also have some tact...

Since i probably know you since you seem to know a bunch of the same guys that I do, please send me an email if i have misinterpreted your intentions.

Friend just took posession of a new Hart action and it is impressive. I have never heard anything bad about them and would tend to beleive Fuchard is not what he appears. Provide proof or shut up.

The only pickle you might have gotten yourself into would be one of your own doing. Muzzle brakes are not legal for registered IBS or NBRSA competition in the short range game.
Why did you want to put a brake on a caliber that is minimal recoil to start with? Not to mention persons now shooting beside you will hate you for it!

I had the break put on only to see hits thru the scope. I am not going to compete in any class. I only shoot for fun with a friend and will using it on the local ground hog population. I did not know that breaks were not allowed though, Thanks.
As far as R.W. Heart is concerned, I was more than pleased with him,Bobby). I got the bench gun for $750.00 complete. Heart told me about the gun. It has the Mcmillan stock,edge)-A brand new heart barrel,22BR with a .249" neck)-A timmeny trigger, 2oz) and the action,Rem 700) was compleatly trued.
As I am new to this forum and not to mention a bench gun I would like to thank you for your responses.
I switched the powder from H-322 to varget today and loaded a few up but have not been able to shoot them yet. I am very impressed so far with the gun to this point. I just might have a new hobby.

Enjoy your new rifle .Hart does excellent work and you will learn a lot.I do hope you are using BR quality bullets in this .
