New Barrel Questions

Hey all thanks for all of your help over the years. I'm back with some more questions about rebarreling my 6BR's. I rotate my shooting amongst 3 of them, and 2 of the barrels are getting long in the tooth. They all have different chambers. So here are my questions:

1. How do rifle builders feel about customers providing their own reamers? I don't turn necks (If I can possibly help it) and want to go with at least a .273" neck and .100" throat length for 103-108 Gr bullets. Also do these dimensions seem right? (The new lot of Lapua brass I have measures .269"- .270" across the neck with 108 Bergers seated)

2. If #1 makes sense, how does one go about ordering a reamer and from whom?

3. I've found a vendor that has the barrels in stock in the contour I want. They are all "5R" barrels. Does "5R" present any issues when dialing in, chambering, crowning etc?

4. Finally, one of the rifles is a 2002 model Stolle Panda. I have heard that you could just order a fitted barrel from a 'smith and screw it on without providing the receiver. Is this so?

Sorry for the long post and thank you for your input.

Yes to owning your own reamer. Reamer and a go gage will make your life easier.
Call Dave Manson or JGS and tell them what you want to do. Both are great companies. Personally I like a bit more neck clearance than most so I would want a .274" neck.
5R is the rifling profile. It's not a problem.
If a smith has all the numbers they can chamber a barrel for your Panda without having the action.

Thanks much!

I've chatted with both Manson and JGS. Their standard reamer for 6BR has a sloped or tapered neck going from .272 at the shoulder to .271 at the mouth. Is there a reason for this? I was thinking I wanted a parallel neck (.274 all the way). Does the taper get me anything? Thanks for helping my ignert self.
