New barrel, new chambering, and new tuner....HELP!

All the parts are in and I am sure that Billy Stevens will put them together before our next match. However, I have not used a tuner before and need guidance. My new chambering is the 6 BR-AI with a .125" freebore and I plan to shoot 105 gr. Bart's RBT bullets pushed by approximately 31 grains of H4895.

Our next 600 yard match is August 19th and I am going to have minimal time for tuning. My barrel is a HV 8-twist 4-groove that will be cut to 28 inches and Mike Ezell's particle-type tuner will be added. For those with tuner experience, where should a novice set the tuner to begin testing? Any information will be appreciated.

If time runs too short, I will simply shoot the match without a tuner. Thanks in advance for any tips. James

There is a simple technique to the tuner that will give you good results - screw it all the way in, then work your way out until the desired result is achieved.

Mine tunes within 6-8 of all the way in. I have not found better tunes working further out. It seems like all the "nodes" provide the same resultant accuracy.

I would also urge you to call Mike. He is easy to talk to and knows his stuff!

No clue about that tuner but use multiple RAS tuner brakes. Screwed all the way in then out maybe 1/8 of a turn. Start there and move out a "teeny" bit for each test. Shocking how little of a turn will make a change.

I use an Ezell PDT and fallow Mike's instructions as described. They react exactly as per his instructions say (for me any how). If you didn't get a copy with your tuner, contact him (he may even chime in here).
