New Barrel and 1x Fired Brass

Folks....sold my old 6br barrel and had a new 6br barrel installed. Headspace set using new, unfired Lapua brass. Now I have about 90 1x fired brass that will not chamber (bolt won't close). I only neck size so no FL dies available.

Confirming that a $29.00 Redding Body Die will move the fired bras back to unfired dimensions....thereby saving me $65 of brass?

It will bump the shoulder and reduce the body,but not to unfired brass specs.Should be where you want it.

when you say no fl dies available--do you mean they are on backorder? i have a forster 6BR fl die and love it. i use that on my first sizing, then neck size after that. i think if you shop around a little more, you will find one.

When you say you set headspace with new Lapua brass does that mean you didn't use a headspace go-gauge and set it off a piece of brass? No criticism, just curiosity.

Yes, the Redding body die will size the body, bump the shoulder and leave the neck untouched.

If you are looking at part #RD75317 it is the same die I am looking at on the Sinclair site. It is in stock for $25.95.

Joe....thanks for the info.

CM....meaning that I don't own a FL die, just neck sizer.

Kenny....yes, my smith used a new, unfired Lapua case with a piece of clear 3M wrapping tape covering the case head to set the headspace. Thanks for the link and info.
