New barrel 6br

What length should I make it 1 in 10 twist? This gun will be my messing around the deer lease rifle. Barrel is a Douglas air gauge #4.

I would leave it 26" or longer if you can, Don't pay extra for barrel length, just what you can get out of the standard barrel. Give the 90 gr Berger's in the 10 tw, they work great in mine.

Your 10 twist and the 95 grain BIB flat base would be a good one to try in a 26 inch barrel.....

I wanted something easy to carry, how about 24 inches? Do you think I'll lose accuracy and how much speed would I loose 26 to 24 inches?

With a standard 6BR on a rail gun, we cut a barrel down from 33" to 28". We lost a TOTAL of 40 fps in 5"--pretty much evenly 8 fps per inch. Going from 26" down to 24" I think the loss would be more than 8 FPS, but I doubt you'd give up more than about 35 fps.

If you set the freebore fairly long--so you can hang the bullets out a bit farther, you can pick up that 35 fps by adding a bit more powder.
