My best bud and I are on the phone tonight and I'm sending him my congratulations on his new arrival. My wife is listening in.

I asked him if it's everything he thought it would be after waiting for so long. Does it fit in your arms like you imagined? Yes, 22" is a good length. Did the color turn out right?

Wife breaks in, "Are you talking about a baby?!"

"No dear, it's his new rifle, a NULA."

She said it sounded like I was asking about a baby and made fun of us for being so sentimental about it. I told her that if he had a baby the conversation probably would have been shorter.

OMG I can't believe you are so sentimental! If he had a baby there is no way he would (or could) respond to your phone call - he's be up to his armpits in poop and diapers!

A few years back, when the "both sexes are the same" propaganda was being pushed, I was employed in an office that was about equal in the number of men and women. After one such lecture by the most liberated woman one of the employee's daughter came into the office carrying her recently born baby. Every man politely acknowledged the young woan and her baby's entrance, then returned to their assorted tasks. However, every woman came from the corners of the building to oogle the baby. It was clear - there were no differences between men and women. Riiiiiight.
