Folks,
Sierra called this morning and told us we could break this story,Check out the Daily Bulletin.)
Sierra is building a new 95gr MatchKing designed to work in a 1:10 or faster twist barrel. BC should be around 0.500. This should work great in anything from a 6 PPC case on up to a 6mm-06. With the tough Sierra Jacket the bullet should hold up at velocities of 3400 fps and beyond.
If you're looking for an ideal, wind-bucking projectile to run in a 10-twist .243, .243 AI, 6mm Rem, or 6-284, this could be the ticket. Jason also tested prototype 95 SMKs in his 6BR and they shot very impressively at 1000 yards.
For Across the Course and 300m shooters this offers an excellent alternative to the heavier 105-107 class of bullets. In a 6BR with a long barrel, 3050 fps should be do-able.
Photos forthcoming--as soon as Jason gets back from work today.
When will the bullet be on the shelves? Rich Macholz of Sierra says "After Thanksgiving is realistic, though we plan to make the official announcement at the first of the new year."
Congrats to Sierra for listening to shooters and providing an exciting new option for both varminters and competitive marksmen.
