new 6br

im shortly getting my new 6br this gun i want to start as i mean to go on, IF YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN, ie the loads, the cleaning, ect any new tips for a 1st timer will be welcome .....all the best from a new uk 6br shooter....

I got mine 2 weeks ago and I have yet to shoot it. If it's a tight neck gun have your smith turn your cases. Use Lapua brass. I found zero tolerance in the case length. I'm loading 34 grains of Varget behind a 75 Grain V-Max bullet. I also have some 68 grain custom VLDs that I want to try.
I had my gun built as sort of a walking varmint target gun.
My big mistake was not keeping the weight down. It's a beast, but feels good on the bags. I went with a 1/12 twist, Kreiger barrel, Bat action, Jewell Trigger, Shehane stock and a 20x Leupold scope.
I hope the hell it shoots.

Have the gunsmith turn his cases?? Oh come on now! I have a Remington 40XB Rangemaster with a .250 neck. Turning case necks is not rocket science!!

Try H4895 and Berger 80gr flatbase. VERY accurate combo. Start at 30.0 and work up. Suggest starting .010-.015 into lands measuring from point of initial jacket to rifling contact.

I shoot the almost the same load. I use 34.5 grains with the 75 vmax. It makes one big hole at 100 and under a dime at 200. The in my opinion the vmax is hard to beat shooting varmints. It is very accurate and absolutely explosive on ground squirrels.
ANything under 400 yards is in serious trouble.
Enjoy your new rifle.
