new 280AI question

with Savage, Kimber and others making factory rifles chambered in 280AI I became interested, but I had a question that I cannot find a definite answer to, so I figured y'all would know. Are these rifle all able to shoot regular 280? I know the performance wouldn't be as good, but I wondering about fire forming the brass?

thanks

Yes. Any AI is derived off the parent care.

Fireforming the parent case is how brass is made. Or hydro forming to get closer to a fireformed case the first time around.
so I can use 280 or 280AI brass, 280 or 280AI dies, shoot any of those in a new 280AI rifle and use the fire formed case after neck sizing or full length sizing?

Unfortunately, this is not a new question and is one that brings up a lot of debate with this particular caliber. IME, yes, you can simply load and shoot std 280 or saami 280 AI in the same chamber with zero issue. I have been involved in this discussion before and literally shown people videos and explanations from very repected action builders who say I'm right...but still get called stupid or something. The issue is Redding's poor explanation of the difference and their offerings for the caliber.

The best thing you can do is measure things up for yourself or get an experienced mentor to help with that.

This is a hotly debated subject due to a simple misunderstanding. Yes....the two WILL interchange if the AI chamber was properly done in your rifle. No doubt! No debate!
