New 243 win

I just built a new gun it's a 243 win built on a predator action with a hart barrel 1:8twist. What are your thoughts on a good load. I have my own ideas just wanted to see other opinions. Thanks for the help!

I use 39 grains of N160 and 105 Sceanar jambed .05. YMMV

In my 243 WIN with 1 in 8 barrel, I shoot 107 SMK at 600 and 1000 yd.

I have used primarily H1000 powder as it supposedly is easier on barrels. Also, I use 46.0 gr (slightly compressed charge) to give me ~2925 fps from a 28.6" barrel, which is not a heavy load. My barrel likes 0.040 jump. I started with moly and now use hBN.
I have 2200 shots down the tube with still capability of 6" groups at 1000 yds.

Of course, as all barrels are different, approach this load slowly and carefully!

I like 107 MK with 42.5/H4831 or use 43.1/H4831 with moly coated bullets. Both shoot 2915 fps in a 26" tube. NOTE THAT THESE LOADS ARE ABOVE BOOK MAXIMUM. They do not seem hot in my rifle so work up to them carefully. Your gun may show more pressure at these levels.

Thanks, Mike Hartman did the work. I have shoot it and happy so far. I'm still working on some load's with reloaded 25 and 105 amax's. Load's are .25 to .5 as long as I let her cool down and do my (part)!


Mike was very helpful and liked to talk about shooting. I could tell he liked what he did. He also did a good job and got it back when he said, 1 1/2 weeks! I talked to him after I ordered my barrel from Hart. It took me 8 weeks on barrel but he got right on it,with a little head's up. Mike Hartman 319-750-2907
