Never thought I would use these, but...

Loaded up 5 each .308 using primers that my Dad gave me years ago. I have no idea how old the Alcan primers are, the CCI's sold for $1.25, and the Herters are at least 50 years old.

No failures, groups the same as my new(er) CCIs. Dont be afraid of that old stock in the back of your cabinets!

IF the Primer situation doesn't improve, in the next 5 Years, I'll be shooting my Bow/ Arrows and looking for, a Flintlock Rifle ! I'm shooting up, my old, CCI / Win. Primers from, the 1980's,.. FIRST !
However, I am dedicating, my Newer F-215's and fresh IMR 7828 for, my .270 WSM, in case I draw, a Moose Tag !
Still HAVE some of, Bruce Hogdon's, OLD Surplus, WWII 4895 that, my Dad bought for, 50 Cents a Pound in the late, 1950's & that stuff, worked perfectly with, 150 grain Hornady's in, the old 06's for, our Family / Friends for over, 3 Decades , YUP, the US Govm'nt made some good stuff to Fight in, the Big One !
I have, a .22-250 Rem, load using, 32.4 grains of that, OLD Chit, with, a 50 gr flat base Sierra Spitzer @ 3,500 FPS that, "Cloverleaf's" them and, it's a Sage Rats worst, Nightmare to, 250 yards !
IF, "stored" properly, old, Primers / Powders, WILL,.. still go, Bang !

Suggestion for,.. Sierra, Hogdon, and Berger ( NAMMO group ) and ANY other,.. "interested" Parties,...
BUILD,.. a DEDICATED,.. Primer Manufacturing Plant, IF,.. you guys want to SELL, Gun Chit !!!
Note that,.. Bullets, Brass and Powder, WITHOUT Primers,.. ARE,.. USELESS !

Those Herters primers brought a smile...I've got a small tin round box of CB caps that I've had for 60 years as well. I believe the box says "Stoegers".

I was looking through my powder/primers yesterday, and my "old" supplies is still pretty good. A lot of it is fifty + years old.

Loading some Grendel yesterday, I dropped a primer on the floor. It fell between the cracks in the floorboards to the ground.
Never mind, some mates are helping me lift the shed this morning. One has a truck with a crane and I have managed to hire some large jacks.
