Wanted to get some opinions on these actions in particular the J series action, have never had the opportunity to check one of these out. Would be used for bench-rest ???

A search of the archives on this site will show a surprising number of Nesika J actioned rifles that have broken LR records. In short range BR they don't seem to show up in group shooting, but again, several Nesika J's have earned a few Score shooters, agg wins, tournament wins, Shooter of the Year awards, and shooter points. As with almost every custom action made, most are good, and some are exceptional.

Call Chad Dixon at LongRifles Inc. He has an enormous amount of experience with the Nesika actions.

I just got a brand new Nesika model K action from the factory a couple of months ago. I have been very impressed with the action so far except for a few minor things. The side bolt release would not release the bolt when I first got the action. I had to remove the bolt release and do some minor filing to get it to actually clear the bolt when the release was pressed. The extractor had a bad groove in it from the factory that would hang up the bolt when you were trying to push the bolt forward and get the extractor to engage the rim of the case. I had to do some minor smoothing with 800 grit wet sand paper to clean that up. My model K was a remington 700 clone rather than their standard configuration which leaves the thread tenon very short. Something around .9" from the front of the action to the front of the bolt, which is not much meat if you are hanging a 30" + barrel on there, especially after you add a recoil lug.
All of that being said, I really like my nesika action. The bolt is extremely smooth, bolt lift is not too heavy, was good and true from the factory, and so far it shoots right under .5 MOA with a 30" Benchmark barrel chambered with a 2012 fullbore 308 reamer, shooting 155.5gr bergers. Stock I used is an Eliseo RTS target with some custom specs. This is my new FTR rifle, and I think it will serve me very well.
Really the only thing that would have made me happier with the action is if I didnt have to de burr the extractor and finish fit the side bolt release.

Borden has been away from Nesika for quite some time. Nesika has been sold and bought probably three times since Jim was involved with Nesika. As JRS stated, Chad may have a little better insight to how Nesikas QC is now days.

According to Chad, the QC is outstanding, along with the guys operating the machinery, which happens to be state of the art. In other words… better than ever.

I am a owner of a Washington (old) Nesika and a 10 year old Nesika, and I just bought one two months ago. I switches a barrel from my oldest to my newest and My Smith (Mark King) measures a .002 difference in the barrel fit. Not bad for almost 20 years of manufacturing. I also own Bat and Kelby. they are all great, but there is something special about a Nesika Classic action. ;D
