Nesika rifle

I ordered a Nesika rifle in 300 WSM through my U.K dealer and after some time it arrived the build quality was not very good when you load the the floor plate magazine it would shave brass of the case and the metal work inside was what I would call tatty.I complained to Nesika and eventually after some time they would replace it with a completely new rifle. Some 18 months later the K actioned rifle arrived. When I used the O.A.L gauge I consistantly had a measurement of 3.325 which is interesting because the first rifle gave 3.222 you do the maths.I seated a bullet to make a dummy cartridge to 3.325 it fed into chamber and ejected O.K.The problem came when I tried to load the magazine the tip of the bullet protruded from the magazine to load this I had to seat the bullet further into the case until I had a meaurement of 3.213 or so which is about .100 of the lands. If you wanted to develope a load a "sweet spot" of say 30 50 70 thou you could not use this because the magazine would not let you get any closer than .100 of the lands. The SAAMI length OF 300 WSM is 2.680 when measured directly and the mag was O.K for this I payed £2880 for the rifle in May 2005 I could have my money back but I would still not have a rifle and today it would cost about £5000.This was the first of 3 rifles a 6.5x47 and a 22/250 would be next.I gave up work 10 years ago to care for my wife who is severley disabled with M.S its not much fun watching her very gradually deteriorate but I do need a break now and again and hunting is what I enjoy and have not shot anything during all of this .I would appreciate feedback and moral support from you guys one shooter to another and all that.I am waiting for a reply from Nesika.HAVE A NICE DAY(hopefully)

I'm relatively new to this forum but I lurked for quite a while before joining so I think I have a pretty good idea of this forum's community, I won't go into it deeply but it's not like what's found on other forums.

That said, it doesn't behoove you to talk trash about a well-known and respected rifle maker, who may or may not be currently or in the future a site sponsor, without allowing them due diligence to fix your problem - it's just not a professional thing to do.

Last, any specification not given to a builder forces them to guess and err on the side of reliability and safety which kind of sounds like what they did in regard to your amount of free bore.

Maybe I'm out of line myself, if I am I apologize but when somebody's first post is bashing a fine rifle maker one has to question the motives of that person.

BRITMAN.
who did you get the rifle from-?your uk. supplier is?
i think that would be your first point of contact.
no need to slate a reputable company on a public forum, try all the angles first.from one uk. shooter to another.

Regardless of who built it, they erred in what they did. He gave them an opportunity to correct their problem. If you haven't lived outside the USA and have gone through the troubles that they have getting product, you wouldn't understand. It takes for ever and a lot of expense, and paperwork. I believe that it is common practice to throat a barrel that will accept rounds that fit the magazine. Now that Remington owns Nesika it may make it even harder to get satisfaction.

BUTCH.im on his side, im from the uk.and know what a hassle it is with stuff from overseas.just trying to ease the pain a little.

garyw,
I am certainly not in favor of bashing any person or company. When you are several thousand miles away across an ocean, it is very hard to get satisfaction sometime. Dakota has had several years of problems. We can only hope it gets better with Remington being the new owner.

There comes a point, and I'm not saying that point has arrived in this particular instance, when "bashing" -- to use the liberal pejorative -- is absolutely the proper course of action. For example, when a rifle builder whose reputation was such that his egregious actions were shielded by his apologists for years, the number of victims only increased. As in shoddy workmanship, fraud, and outright theft.

The apologists thus directly thwarted the public's ability to understand the level of risk when dealing with that vendor -- the long defunct HD Rifles.

Sure, one should always do one's diligence and pursue the proper initial steps to obtain satisfaction. But there come's a point when bashing is the appropriate and neighborly thing to do.

Britman, I think you should "ring them up on the tele" (Nesika)
and have a heart to heart talk with someone there that can give you some satisfaction... Also take some digital pictures to email them in order to help explain your problems, then
If that satisfaction isn't forthcomming in a very timely manner, then do what you must as far as flailing away at them on the internet and anywhere else that it gives you satisfaction to do so1
Pound 2880 was what, about $4000.00? For that and all of the time and grief you have involved here...You can bet your shepherds pie that I'd be raising their roof by now!
