Nesika or Stiller??

What are opinions on these two??

I'm looking at doing another varmint rifle and would like to use something different than a 700 this time, however I like the idea of the footprint being the same.

Trying to choose between a Nesika Hunter and the Stiller Predator....

Let's here what you guys have to say.

I'd like to keep it between these two.

Bot a Stiller Tac 30, two years ago for 6 BR., Bot another Tac 30 earlier this year for a 6.5x47L, Need I say more.

You owe it to yourself to check out the Kelbly/Stolle Atlas action --- it's their Rem 700 footprint action. It's as nice as the Borden and Bats I owned in the past and the guys at Kelbly's were awesome to work with. The one I bought in August now has a Hart 20 vartarg tube screwed on it and I love it.

I have also owned a Stiller predator and 2 of the older Nesikas (one from Washington and one from Sturgis, SD). None were bad but I also don't own any of them anymore.

Never had a Stiller. Several years ago, I built a bench gun with a Nesika M action, and I still have it. Over the years it has had 6 barrels on it, now in 30BR. It is very smooth and has the "Borden bumps". There are still many BR shooters using Nesika actions, check the match equipment pages.

I have a rifle built on a stiller which is fine however I would also second the suggestion to check out pierce, I much prefer their action to the tac 30.

No help here, I like them all. I own a bunch of actions Nesika, Bat, Sako, Styer, Sauer, Mauser, Win, Rem, Ruger, and a couple others, no Stiller yet, but I challenge anyone to prove to me why One is any better than the other in the same range. It is what you like that counts. It is like your favorite golf club, if you trust it, you will do better with it. Now, why you like it is another hard to sell question. Yes custom actions have tighter tolerances and better machining than off the shelf, and are nicer to work, but you pay more. I ask what are you going to do with it? That is what matters. They all have their place and all do what they were designed to do. Most people will tell you to buy what they have. I say buy what you like. There is something about looking at and holding a piece of fine machining in your hands and working it. That is the best way to make your decision.

Thanks! I agree completely.

I'd like to build yet another gun in the next year or so. I built a 20br on a 700 and i love it, so I think I'd like to get another one for whatever reason...OOOOOORRRR.....build up a custome 17 Rem to the stable. I have one custom, and a factory 17 rem, but one more couldn't hurt....could it???

Any way I look at it, it'll be a coyote rifle for calling

With that being said A couple things to maybe look for in your search.. is a good quality coating and light weight. If for some reason you live and hunt in an area that gets down to below zero for 4 months at a time with winds 20+ MPH a highquality cerosion resistant coating on your action might be important to you. Melonite or Nitride coatings shine here i think. Going from -15* to inside the truck at 40* degrees creates alot of condinsation on the rifle. The Sand and dirt blowing around when there is no snow on the ground is also an issue. Nothing worse than gaulling the lugs on your brand new Action because of sand in the action.
Just a thought to consider maybe for your aplication, Coyote carry rifle.

just got my third stiller and was given a $20 discount! have a sshot predator 22 BR .251 neck, kreiger 12 twist in a tracker stock and sunday it printed a .070 in group with 63 gr cheeks under n140 powder! the group opened up to .120 with n540 and then spread a .198 with berger 64 gr and n540! hope to get a drop port when he makes the next batch. i'm one happy customer.

To shooter63's point.........I believe that Ceberus (same corp. that owns Remington) is Nesika's ( Dakota Arms) owner, which does not give me much comfort knowing current Remingtons downward QC control and gimmick driven R&D. Also Nesika has had a rocky history since it's start. Unless it was a previously owned action with a proven record, I would not even consider a Nesika...given all the other options that are available today.

Most of the gunsmiths that I know think the late model Remingtons are superior to the older ones. Don't know about the newer Nesika's, but the older one that I had was a very poor receiver.

Butch....I don't doubt that many gunsmiths have found the Remington tolerances more acceptable than those in the past. I am relating other QC issues I have experienced in the five (5) 700's I bought new in the last decade....problems such as gooey recoil pads (bad batch of foam rubber for Limbsavers?)...that they never even offered to recall, a Custom Shop 700 that gouged the heck out of cases because the edges on the actions ejection port were a knife edge.... they never broke the edge, the crown ( on almost every one) that looks like someone hammered a 60 penny spike in the bore, a cartridge stamping on a Custom Shop rifle that looks like they did the stamping in a 7.0 earthquake, their skimpy cheap magazine springs that are bent wrong and render it useless as a repeater......just to name a few. I do know one dealer that has constant issues that he ends up doing these repairs himself just to avoid the run-around his customers get from Remington service.
