Need trickler recommendation

Dandy is still very much in business. He is just not able to sell thru other businesses anymore. You can only buy one through him.

You're gonna find that your Gem Pro 250 is NOT well suited to trickling up to a particular charge weight. As you trickle, at first nothing happens as the scale seems to want to "lock on" to the existing weight. Eventually, the silly scale takes the hint and changes the indication to a heavier weight, which may or may not be correct. You'll find yourself emptying the pan, hitting the tare button, letting the scale settle down, and then reweighing the charge. You'll also be grinding your teeth.

I still use my Gem Pro 250, but I start with a charge weight as close to the target as I can get. These days I use a Charge Master but I have also used a powder dipper and a mechanical charge thrower.

Once the charge is in the Gem Pro 250 pan, I remove the pan, shake the charge to center it up, and place the pan back on the scale because the Gem Pro will show the wrong weight if the charge isn't on center....... sigh. Then I use a tweezers to remove or add up to three kernels which weigh close to .02 gr each if you're using Varget or a similar powder. Then I dump the charge into the case.

If the initial charge is off by more than .06gr, I make an adjustment and re-weigh it, once again fine tuning by a kernel or two as necessary.

If you can come up with a way to hit your initial charge within .06gr of the ideal weight most of the time, the Gem Pro 250 isn't bad. If you can't, it's a real PITA especially if you try to use it with a conventional trickler.

As reported earlier you will not find a trickler that works well with the gem pro
You will need to upgrade to a magnetic resistance unit like the fx120
The gem pro is a decent scale but is not capable by design of the accuracy/repeatability you want. Here is what I found using the gem pro

I trickled a bit using the dandy and found I overshot every time. The delay in read-out was terrible and picking out granules of powder was problematic

It's not that it can't be done - it's just a huge pain in ass

Trickle a bit - lift pan- trickle a bit and so on

On the other hand it's battery operated and works in hunting camp

I am a SERIOUS precision reloader and recommend NO trickier. I use electronic scale and trickier and am prepared to pinch in or out if necessary. If you use a trickle, you may still need to pinch out to be on the money. I find it to be of no more use than the standard powder chargers of the past that cost so much money and still required either trickling or pinching. Spend your money on other needs.

Another vote for the Dandy2, got mine in the mail today from Brunos & its a sweet piece. Wish I would have bought one earlier. Fast yet precise. I loaded 25 rounds in noticeably less time than when I do it manually. The design of the feed tube allows you to trickle stick powder one kernel at a time and has infinite amounts of adjustment.

Loose powder in old shallow bowl, thumb and finger to pick up and trickle powder. Been doing it this way for 40 years. Also use a powder thrower. Barlow

FWIW called Omega and was told to use the email address for my concerns, and then I typed for a price on the discharge tube I had broken.
Got it yesterday NO CHARGE...
Stan is GTG...

I would hold on to it. I still use it for trickling when I am doing a couple of loads each on incremental charge testing. I find it to be quicker than my autotrickler in those instances and a good backup if the AT would become inoperative.

I havent had much time with the auto trickler setup yet and planned on keeping the dandy untill i get it all figured out.
