Need to find out when my XR100 was manufactured

they were made from 2005 to 2007. can I ask why you need to know the exact year? I own four of them and think they are great. single shot action, 40x trigger and the thumb hole stock gives my wrist a break from the angle on std. stocks for high volume shooting of squirrels.

Thanks for your response. Actually, after I posted the question I found out that Remington has (since 1921) been stamping a code on the left side of the barrel, just beyond the barrel lug, a 2 position code that indicate the month and year that the rifle was manufactured. I bought my XR100 in .223 in November of 2005 brand new. According to the code on the barrel (D2) the rifle was manufactured in September of 2005.

The reason I wanted to know is that my trigger seems to be unable to provide a consistent pull weight. It varies from 2 lbs to 5 lbs and I cannot find a reason for this inconsistency. I use the rifle to shoot in a benchrest competition and the trigger pull variance is very exasperating. I have cleaned the trigger, visually inspected it and can find no signs of wear or corrosion of any sort. The rifle has an unknown number of rounds through the barrel and is still group well. I was wondering if there is any relationship between the age of the rifle and the deterioration of the trigger. As it stands now, I intend to purchase a trigger rather than continue with the unpredictable pull weight of the current trigger. I guess after 13 years, the trigger is worn out.

If you have any thoughts about this, please share them with me.

Thanks!

I should have mentioned that I have re springed all of my triggers. Factory settings didn't work for me. I now get 1 to 1 1/2 lbs consistent. PfS sells spring kits on ebay. I was fortunate to have inherited many Springs from my father that would work for this. Like everything you can take this too far and end up not enough sear engagement and you can end up with a dangerous situation of fire on bolt close. . For a high-volume varmint shooter they're fine if I was a benchrest shooter I would change them to bix'n Andy or Jewel.

The XR 100 is a very nice rifle,I wish it was something Remington still offered as a regular cataloged item. For bench competition I would buy one of the previously mentioned triggers and not look back,of course it could be resprung and it would do very well also saving you some money to buy a used BR gun or perhaps build with a custom action.Shooting BR is a very enjoyable hobby to be sure, just be prepared to spend a little$$$$;)

TJV,
The code of D2 is incorrect, as there are not any numbers in the Bbl coding.
The letters are of 1/8" size.
Any numbers are a promo code or inspection stamp.

The First Letter is MONTH of the year.....B.L.A.C.K.P.O.W.D.E.R.X are the letters.
The Second Letter is the year of Bbl manufacture.

2005-2007 Bbl code Year stamp should be
2005-Z
2006-A
2007-B

The exception to the rule is-
From 8/99 through 09/01 Bbl codes were stamped on the box END Flap Label ONLY.
