Need some remington recoil lugs ground

I have accumulated quite a few and would like to have them surface ground. Anyone around who offers that service for a fair price? Thanks.

Depending on how much a shop would charge, I would think it would be better in the long run to buy a custom lug from Gre-Tan...

Question for thought...

Remington factory lugs are .187" thick. Lets say it takes .005" on each side to clean them up that will leave you with .177" and getting pretty thin for larger calibers. Most after market recoil lugs are .200" - .250" in thickness. I replace a couple hundred factory lugs every year. Have a box that I take to steel scrap yard at the end of the year.
Maybe I should be selling them, eh.

Butch:

I don't think you would have any problems using them on a hunting rifle. I would not want to use them on a 30-32 inch F-Class rifle using a heavy Palma contour. When I use PT&G .250 recoil lugs I often machine off .100"- .125" off the bottom shortening them up thus making them stiffer. I have seen both Remington and Savage factory lugs bent from recoil, ie: .300 RUM, .338 Edge, and 338 Lapua.

the lugs are in route to Butch for truing. I probably don't do near as much measuring on things like lugs as yall do and I always use an aftermarket lug when I build a rifle but I just don't see even .177 of steel bending when properly bedded. If I think about it I will do a report and post some groups on the first rifle I build with the trued factory lugs. I think its going to be a short and light barreled 6.5x47 though so it wont test the theory of the long heavy barrel.
