Need some help/advise

So my father in law has an old ariska sporterized 30-06 that had an old Texan 4x scope on it. Scope adjustments gave out so he is wanting a new scope. The thing is set up with a weaver detachable side mount and had 7/8in rings I believe. Anyways I ordered a 1in ring set for it and got it put on but the problem is it’s to low and the bolt is hitting the eyebell housing. So is there a scope that someone knows of that has a low profile eyebell (New or older as long as under 400$), or any way to raise the rings. I think weaver just sells one height for the side mount and the long version won’t help my problem unless it is higher. Anyways any help or suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance.

Leupold VX/VariX has a bell diameter of 1.550" and the Weaver K series fixed scopes are 1.485" and Leupold made a nice little Compact 2-7 scope with a 1.360" diameter, it is the only scope I found that would fit my L-461 in low rings. You can still find these scopes around. Leupold also make a 3-6 and 2.5x compact scope but I do not have one to measure.

thanks for the reply and measurements! This is the front objective measurements correct?

no the ocular housing measurements at the back of the scope where it needs to clear the bolt handle.

I was thinking back to my Springfield 340 days and B-Square makes a side mount base that uses the same screw spacing as the weaver side mount base but it uses regular weaver style rings. I don't know if the hole spacing is the same on your Ariska.

Looking at the Brownells sight it looks like the Weaver side mount that fits the Savage 340 also fits the Ariska, so the B-Square should fit also.
