Need recommendation on a next level BR Bipod please

I am approaching one year into ARA and N50 Factory level competing.
I started with a $30 Amazon bipod. Three months ago I bought an adjustable Sinclair
Bipod. That helped my scores. Now I am told I should consider moving up
to a better one. No tripods allowed. A friend has loaned me his JoyPod X
to try for a week. After one trial I noticed more Xs. The thing is not so simple
to operate and There is a long waitlist.
My question is- What other brands/products of Bipods do people find improve
their shooting most?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure the JoyPod is the only stick-adjustable bipod. If that is the style you are looking for, I suggest you put your name on the list, continue to use what you have, and keep an eye out here on the classifieds. They do show up, but you usually have to be pretty quick on the button.

Regards
Rick

You probably have about as good as it gets
We use the Mystic bipods from EGW ( Zero slop or play) but have used the Sinclair and they work but we discovered the popular Sinclair with elevation has some play in it unless it is tightened in lowest setting--not good
You might experiment with filling rear bag as tight as it will go on lower part then adjusting sand in ears until it is just right
We have found that a bag like the protektor Brick under our right arm really helps with hand position on the trigger and keeping it the same
We also found that what you put under the bipod feet is critical--wound up using silicone square pot holder things from Amazon for $6 they seem to not "load up " tension when you move the feet but have enough traction --they seem just right
Looks like a winning rig you have there
Some of the popular high $$ bipods are actually have a very wide foot print and are not suited to the narrow benches you will find --I think your Sinclair is max width on the foot print for most benches

Good Luck--Wear em out!

Thorough advice! I come from an fclass background where you will find the best options. But to manage recoil the feet are designed to slide backwards as straight as possible, typically skis on carpet. Not good for a 22, and as noted the foot material on the proper surface is important. I personally like a rubber foot on the bench top.

What is wrong with your Sinclair, what behavior was better with the joypod?

These pads Work for 22 bench They have the slight grip but when you move the bipod it does not load up any tension on the feet We have tried everything you can imagine These Work!
On Amazon you use the squares give the round ones to the kitchen pro

Just curious, Does ARA let you use the cheek piece shown on your rifle?

Back and just read all the ideas, thanks!

Responses- Re cheek rest. I sent Dawn at Killough an email asking for an ARA rule clarification
but they are too busy to reply. Meantime I noticed all the unlimited competitors removed
any sort of rest so I pulled mine too.

I am on the list for new JP X -may come out in Sept. Meantime this Bipod and a 457 Action are
on my shopping list.

Remple, Phoenix-will check. Either the N50 or ARA Factory does not allow tripod fronts so I
will try to start with a bipod.

Re the pads under Bipod skis. I think I am reading comments above which are conflicting?
The mentor who allowed me to use his JP X in yesterday's ARA event also loaned me two
thin 10" x 10" slick pads. He uses them so the gun will slide a bit. Is that undesirable?

I did buy a couple Goodwill $5 Gell seat cushion and t-shaped 1/2 round rest that fits around
the Protector bag for support. I have been experimenting with finger position on the 4oz Jard.

I thought the somewhat new to me Sinclair was a big improvement until one of the UL guys
mentioned they are not as stable as one might want. I went from a crappy $30 bipod to a
$175 Sinclair and thought it was good enough. Not made of money. Retired.

I do sincerely encourage suggestions from anyone about what could be my next move to continue
to upgrade my shooting.

I’m ignorant and uneducated about the classes and xyz/pdq divisions and rules, but at that point why not use one of those fixtures with the shifter lever and only touch the trigger like the benchrest folks?

What’s wrong with atlas and Accu-tac?

I did well with a Sinclair bipod in factory class. I kept the fine (knob) vertical adjustment bottomed out though and adjusted with my mechanical rear rest. I kept the feet on a slick surface and used free recoil. IMG_3333.jpeg
