Need receiver tap & barrel die

I have a Small ring 98, (same as the 93-96) and either the barrel thread is
galled or is the receiver thread, I have cleaned them both and bead blasted them but see nothing wrong but still I need a wrench to make it up and there is no way it can be done by hand.
I would like to chase the threads with a tap and die to smooth them but I have none.
Anyone have a set I could rent for a day.?
Please let me know I will pay you for the use of them.
Thank you
Ron

Original barrel or new? If the threads will start, you can apply lapping compound on the threads & work it in & out a little at a time. It's work but it will work. Those threads don't need to be so loose that you can turn them in by hand. I prefer my mauser threads to need assistance from a wrench, not super tight but snug.

Be CAREFUL! Awful easy to stick a thread. Then you have to cut the barrell out of the action on a lathe .

I really don't think you need the reamer or tap. Most of those Mausers had a thread fit that was a horror to get off and on again; too tight a fit and one had to crank it off and on with the action wrench all the way. If you are looking for a finer fit, just set the barrel up in the lathe and chase a few thousndths off the threads. It wil make a difference and won't affect the fit.
