Need opinions on Sightron MOA-2 reticle

I want to try either the 6-24x50 or the 8-32x56 SIII, but I have never been a big fan of dot reticles. I've always preferred fine crosshairs. How big is the dot in the MOA-2 reticle. Specs say .25moa which seems a little big for precision work.

The reticle is very "busy" in my opinion and it has a tendency to disappear when sighting on a paper target if you don't have the scope very well focused. I have SII Big Sky scope with that reticle and I'm not really enthusiastic about it. Furthermore the knob clicks are not nearly as crisp as on their SIII scopes.

Thanks. I'm not worried too much about it being too busy…I like moa hashes for holdovers, etc. I'm mostly worried about the dot being too large for precision. Sightron needs to offer this reticle without the dot and with the crosshairs crossing.

I own three of them, work great for ranging targets as well as for wind hold off on my long range guns, it is calibrated for 24 power (SFP models) so at higher magnifications it subtends at less than 2 moa graduations.

Thanks. My main concern is the dot size…it doesn't seem too big for you? Sightron lists it at .25moa, so at 700 yards (I shoot a lot at 700) it will be 1.75" which worries me a little.

I have a Sightron 10-50x60 with 2MOA reticle, and I am very pleaded with the reticle.
When I shoot I can all I want to see at 200-1000 yards and find the Hash marks very useful
to gauge wind deflection.
I would recommend the 2MOA reticle.

Best of luck.

I had one in SIII configuration and I didn't like it at all, optics were very fuzzy over about 12x. Was not crazy about the focus ring-was very hard to turn as was the parallax adjustment.

I like dot reticles, but anything bigger than .125 is too big. If the specs say .25 I'm sure that is what it is. Their website and catalog have excellent specifications listed.

I have the SIII 8-32x with .125 target dot and I really like it. I have a 2013 Nightforce Comp and it has two .125 dots. I like it as well, but I see why for the 2014 model they went with even smaller dots...3/32 I think.
