Need Loads for Browning BAR in 7mm Rem Mag

I have one. I'll have to check my load logs tomorrow for the exact load I was using. I remember I found 4831 worked the best with Sierra pills for my BAR, and I needed to use a small base sizing die.

Sorry, I have one too (and a 30-06 version), from when I was young, but when I went to lookup the load the writing had faded too much to read! Got several hunting rifles like that...

Thanks for checking for me anyway

Open the reloading manual of your selected bullet manufacturer.
Turn pages to 7mm Remington Magnum.
Scroll thru to your selected bullet weight/design.
Start w/ starting loads & work up....SAFELY.
It's a 1.5-2 MOA rifle
Treat it as such.

Thanks Dan- I just thought since it's an auto loader there may be best powders/loads to use from the point of view of the gas system. I guess not.

Nosler 175s and Rel22 or H4831. Check the current Nosler manual. My Rel22 load is 60.0 or 62.0...somewhere in there....it is Nosler's most accurate load in their current manual, i just happened to spot it going thru the manual the other day. The H4831 load is less than max and 200-300fps slower than the Rel22 load, but is a little more accurate in my Dad's BAR.

Steve :)

Thanks for that info

I am sure most reloadrs are aware RCBS made dies for the Browning Automatic rifle, the 7mm Remington Mag is the only set I do not have, and the BAR sizing die is a small base die.

What ever load you use make sure that you use small base dies or you'll have jams. Just saying to save you headaches.

I have a 7 Mag BAR and here are a few that work in mine.
Nosler 150 Ball. Tip, CCI250 Mag primer, 48.0 IMR4064, 3.268" OAL (sub-1 MOA)
Barnes 140 TTSX, 62.7 RL22, Fed Mag. Match primer, 3.240" OAL (1/2" MOA) My main hunting load
Hornady 120 H.P., 61.0 IMR4350, CCI250 Mag primer, 3.290" OAL (3,000 FPS) Light varmint load (1/2" MOA)
I didn't note the brand of brass, except I used PMC with the Barnes load. Can be substituted. These are not hot loads in my rifle - but work up.

You can tune your loads to the BAR or you can tune your BAR to your loads. The hotter the load the bigger the gas hole in the regulator.

I like to load hot, and the gas regulator in the BAR is not adjustable.
I have built the regulators from scratch, but what is much easier is to buy one for $14 and drill it out.

I think the 338WM is only different from the 7mmRM [.066"] and 300WM [.077"] in that the 338 hole is .059".

My home made one is .078".

That would be a start to tuning your hot ammo and your gas hole to ejecting the empty cases 5'.

I have lots of 7mmRemMag rifles and always building more.
The load I like is 66.7 gr IMR-4451, 140 gr Nos Bal Tip, 3.34" 3450 fps
