Need load data 338wm 225tsx

Had a chance to brown bear hunt dropped in my lap and need some load data for a 338wm shooting barnes 225 tsx bullets. I have a fair selection of hodgdon powders to choose from.
Any suggestions/starting point appreciated.

Trying to come up with a guesstimate starting load.
I have not used mono bullets before and have read they behave different than cup an core.

I have no personal experience but looked in my Barnes Reloading Manual No. 3. It is old and pre-TSX but I have found it to be a solid reference for tsx and ttsx. For the 338WM and 225X, it list the following Hodgdon loads:

Varget* Starting 57.0 Max. 62.0
H380 Starting 60.0 Max 65.0
H414 Starting 63.0 Max. 68.0
H4350 Starting 62.5 Max. 67.5
H450 Starting 69.0 Max. 74.0

Interestingly it lists Varget and IMR 4350 as the most accurate powders tested. Hope that helps get you started.

I shoot Accurate 4350 with great accuracy behind 210 TTSX’s in my .338 WM for bear. I’m testing out Hybrid 100V and 225 TTSX’s next trip to the range which is probably this weekend. I have a friend that loads Hunter and TTSX’s in his .338 WM, .300 WM, and .30-06.

Don't be surprised if H380 makes the recoil much more manageable.

Are you on a guided hunt? If so, check with your outfit/guide, many do not want clients to use reloaded ammunition. You may have to check out a few factory rounds, and find one that is most accurate in your rifle for that hunt.

Who cares what they "want" its your hunt!

I have Mich more confidence in MY hand loads than in factory ammo.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to shoot it before the rains set in on Friday. I’m not going to have another chance for a while either as I have to miss my fall hunting season to leave the state next week to go help my mom out since she fell and broken her hip a week and a half ago. I will probably mess with it in October some before it starts snowing too bad here.

I am curious about your experience with guides not wanting the hunter to use handloads. Where did you encounter this?
