Need Insight -- McMillan Marksman Stock for Nesika K Action with Square Rear Tang(Rem 700 Short)

6and7mm

I may need a 12 step program to break this hobby

Is the McMillan Marksman Stock, for a Rem 700 Short Action a good solution for a Nesika K with a square rear Tang?

If so, how does the Tang sit in the stock once bolted-in?

If not, what do you suggest is a more appropriate stock model as a more viable solution?

I lean towards the McMillan Marksman and McMillan Sako style Rem stocks as for the look and feel I am comfortable with. This is for a varmint rifle setup.

Thanks.

A year ago McMillan would only sell the Marksman Stock as an flat top, no in letting due to lack of sales of that model.

Never saw this combination, but remembering when the old style McMillan BR stocks were made, there were 2 molds, differing only in the size and shape of the tang area -- one for Remingtons and another for the square backs actions, ala Panda. The Remington version sloped off toward the rear too quickly for square tangs and left the rear of the tang exposed.

Yes, that makes sense too.

No the top of the tang will sit a lot higher than the stock. It can be done but it looks horrible. I have built up 700 tang stocks with epoxy but the Marksman is pretty thin through the wrist area and it wouldn't lookgood at all to do that. Like SBS said McMillan has 2 molds for a lot of their stocks, Remington type tang and target tang. You need a stock molded for a target tang for that action.

I think the HTG comes in both tangs but I'm not 100% positive on that. And pretty much all their tactical stocks can be had with either tang.
