Need Information on new Rifle

Just purchased a Savage Model 11BGT in 223. Have checked the internet and can not find anyting out about it. Even checked Savage's website with no results. It would appear to be a Model 10 LE-1 20" bull barrel in 223 but with a laminate wood thumbhole stock. I can't have the only one in the whole world.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Why not directly contact the company which made the rifle?

http://www.savagearms.com/contact.htm

Give them the serial number, and they'll tell you what it was when it left their factory.

It's a special run that Savage did for a distributor, which one I don't know. The mechanicals are the same as similar production Savages but in a thumbhole stock.

NateHaler gave good advice if you want to know specifics.

You could also try www.savageshooters.com. There are a lot of savage "nuts" over there with all kinds of information. Great place and a good bunch of guys.

I have heard there was a special run of Savages with laminated thumbhole stocks built for Dick's Sporting Goods.

Thanks guys - it was purchased from Cabela's and I finally did call Savage it is a 1-9 twist offshoot of their Model 10 LE-1. Now I just need a bullet to make it work the way I know it can. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks again
Jim

My 10fp likes 69gr smk's and even more so 75gr amax's both over varget, there are some who report their 1:9 won't shoot 75's but I have not had a problem). I could never get a single 55gr anything to shoot worth a darn, but oddly enough 52gr BTHP from sierra and hornady both shoot well. I think you'll find a lot of bullets shoot very well in that gun. Mine is an honest .5MOA gun when the load is right. Get some lapua brass and your favorite primer and enjoy.

My Savage liked two bullets from Sierra, the 55gr BTHP, and the 60gr HP. The 69gr worked well also, but the other two are much cheaper to shoot, and the 55gr will easily touch the lands, which is where it liked to be.
