Need help - XP100 stock

I have a custom XP-100 I built. It has a center grip HS stock on it. I found cracks in the stock where its splitting in the forearm part.

What are my options for new stocks that are rear grip. I want to change from the center grip to rear grip.

Do the chassis stocks have to be bedded? What are they called? Trying to find options...

To go to a rear stock all that is needed is to remove the factory trigger assembly and install a standard remington 700 style trigger. Then, if your rear grip that is being supplied from Montana, Aa McMillian it will be fully inletted for your Xp-100 action. Bedding would be recommended. The chassis that are made in Ohio are basically a drop in unless you are trying to extract every last bit of accuracy.

I have a fully inletted McMillian rear grip that was made in the past. My XP actions fit it like a glove. A little epoxy and they would be good to go. My issue is I have a LH XP clone or two and am reluctant to modify my stock from Right to left hand. I have been waiting for a rh XP clone to no avail and could have made my own by now.

Hope this helps,as it's really a painless conversion.

I'm sure your stock could be fixed. BTW, is it an HS stock? They need modified with some stiffeners, was told the new ones are.
OOOOOPS..... I see it is a HS. Nature of the beast if it's from an older production.

I know of a few that have had aluminum channel put into the forend to support the use of a bipod. I'm assuming thats where its splitting. If you're gonna do that I'd also recommend putting a bolt up through the grip into the bedding block. They can split where the grip meets the body of the stock too. If you decide to part with that broken HS I'd be interested.

I think that all chassis should be bedded. Problem with any of them is that not all actions are exactly the same. Even if the stock is made exactly to the spec for the action it doesn't mean the action is. They polished the actions after machining and they aren't identical.

Russo made a rear grip BR style stock. So did McMillan. At one point mcmillan made a rear grip stock for the xp-100R, which isn't identical to the xp-100. Holes are in different locations and the tang is different. Emma creek makes a wood stock. Not sure I'd order one from them though. I've had one on order for quite some time and haven't heard anything about it.

If you don't like the width then the rear grips are not for you. There are some narrow rear grips but finding one will be a chore.

Get ahold of Ernie Bishop over at Specialty Pistols. He can alleviate a lot of confusion and advise you about fixing what you have and he can get you a McMillan Center grip that I think you are looking for. The Mcmillans are bullet proof and thanks to Ernie they are making them again. You order it from him and he takes care of it for you. He is hard to contact. If You don't have lucking finding his email, I'll look it up and post it.

I'm sure someone will be posting It asap. I have to run.

Ernie is the man when it comes to these handguns....good luck

I already sent him a message.

accurateriflesystems = the stock in the picture on the web site has side plates added for a more bench type stock and extra weight. It can be ordered without them.

Contact Randy(7fingers) here or on SP for expertise with this stock.
