Need help w/ Voodoo!

Sizing once fired 308 win. brass [not fired by me]. Using redding type S full length die. Have tried .331, .332, .333 bushings. Averaging about .002 runout. Have tried bushing slightly loose, tight, set-up on a case with minimal runout [.0003]. Squaring case mouth prior to sizing. The .333 bushing gives me just the slightest drag w/ expander. No matter what I do I am getting the .002 runout. If I use a RCBS FL die with no expander I get almost no runout from .0001 to .0003. This is my first experience with a bushing die, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Paul

Are you using an expander with the bushing die ? You shouldn't need to . If you use the expander with the full length RCBS die what is your run out ? RCBS reccomends you leave the lock nut loose on the expander till you raise the handle and get the expander into the neck and while holding upward tension ,lock the nut .

What's the fired neck diameter? If sizing more than a few thou/ side, you might try doing it in two steps, running a larger bushing 1st.

After this worked for me, I ordered custom bushings for .308 and 6.5x47 with stepped IDs and it really helps.

What’s the neck wall thickness variation vs. runout when spinning the case body and reading from the seated projectiles, and when the sizing is both with and without dragging case necks back over the expander ball?
