need help salt bth nitrading contact info

I used to have the contact information on the company and contact person at I believe trutec that does the hot bath nitrading . If some one could help I would sure appreciate it and any feed back on your experience with the results
and if you had the whole barreled action done at once Or just the barrels and if you have some feed back on its success. I have a 6.5-06ai that I would like to get done And possibly a 6.5 Sherman based on the longer 270 case blownout and 40* shoulder. Thank you for any help you can offer.

I love this heresy. My Uncles wife's cousin's grandpa said the sun has never shined.

I have had several done both for myself and my customers. If you start with a new premium grade barrel. Have it chambered and fit to a rifle. Clean it well and shoot it 20-25 times. Then clean it well both chemically and with some elbo grease. Get all the carbon and copper out. Inspect it to make sure it is clean. Then have it meonited. The melonite process want improve or cause your barrel to shoot poorly. All it will do is surface harden CM barrels off the Rockwell chart. It will take a 416 SS barrel up to about 72 Rockwell. The process goes down in the metal surface a couple microns. I know of shooters who say they saw no difference and I know shooters who have over 10,000 rounds in their rifle. It all breaks down to the quality of the barrel blank, the gunsmiths know how, and getting the barrel broken in and clean before it is melonited.

I have a customer in TX who is reporting his melonited 338 Lapua barrel is producing sub .3 MOA at 1000 yards.

p.s. send an email to joelkndrck@aol.com he is your contact man at Parker Trutech MMI.

Thank You, I have sent two barrels to Controlled Thermal Tech in Phoenix, Arizona and I have been very pleased with. I am waiting for the second barrel now I hope will be here next week so I can get it ready for elk season here in Idaho.
I am just now able to work up a load for it. It a 6.5x06 ackley improved. So far it seems to want to shoot and velocity looks very good with 140 grain Bergers! Ron

Are they doing melonite treatment now? I know they do what I call a true cryo.

Yes, they do! And their service so far is good. The turn around time is fast but they had a factory power outage and it is supposed to be fixed next week and back up and running. Ron

Got a call today from, Rich at Controlled Thermal Technology and he said my barrel was done and said do to them taking extra time in getting it done that they were going so send it back and not charge me for the service the, hot bath salt nitrated; ie meloniting. I told Rich that I wasn't in a big hurry so it wasn't an issue but he insisted that since their turn around time is normally 3 to 5 days they felt that they would not charge me for their work!! Now I feel that is above and beyond the business practices that I have experienced with the companies I have dealt with in recent times!
If you need something heat treated, this is their contact info;
Controlled Thermal Technology

Phoenix, Arizona 85009
Phone # 602-272-3714
ask for "Rich" who takes care of the barrels,
Thanks CTT, Ron

For doing a barrel it is 85.00 shipped back to you And I believe it is the same for a barreled action but they have to be the same material stainless action and stainless barrel or the same combination of chrome moly. The bolt has to be the same material or there is a separate batch charge. Rem 700 bolts for instance are not completely stainless. So it would be nice to have a larger batch to save money. Ron
