Unless you are a licensed Class III manufacturer it is completely illegal, without a registered sear--see below) and you better not even try.

There is one way. For the purpose of CLASS III registration, the auto-sear is the registered/licensed part. From time to time, someone will sell a registered AR15 auto-sear. You have to fill out paperwork and obtain a license to purchase the auto-sear. That is a matter of Federal law. But in some states it is illegal to own the auto-sear or Class III machine-gun even if you have the Federal license, tax stamp).

As you might expect the auto-sears cost almost as much as the complete firearm. Personally if you have the big bucks required to own Class III stuff, it makes sense to buy the whole firearm. Then, usually, you can at least test it to make sure it works, and there will probably a better record of its licensed status. There were some bogus auto-sears floating around years back that got a LOT of people in trouble.

yea, i figured it was a big mess and a bunch of hard earned cash. im better off sticking with my bolts and semi auto's, plus hell i can hardly afford ammo the way it is, and i reload all my ammo.
